I found a crazy diverse set of queer led antifascist self defense groups in my relatively small town that are honestly pretty big. I wrote an article on it for a local rad paper and interviewed some of the organizers and it was really impressive how many options there were? Jui Jitsu, Panantuken, firearms, you name it.

Anyway, I can't recommend finding groups in your area enough. The only shortage is finding people to teach because all these groups were free on top of everything else too. I felt very optimistic after working on this project.

What are your thoughts on queer social events assuming a political edge? Is it performative or genuine? There's a dyke night dance party in my town that always has Palestine banners up. One night they even led a "death to america" chant. I interviewed the DJ's for a local rad newspaper that you can read here:

It's interesting to me because these DJ's are also organizers in their day to day lives, they just take that into their recreational time too.
