Is it possible to boost hdr highlights?

The gist of it is i have a miniled monitor that has two viable dimming modes when HDR is on : Medium and High.

High has great contrast but the algorithm dims highlights. Id say its about 2x reduction in brightness for speculars. Medium has amazing brightness on highlights but introduces blooming which is tolerable in some media.

Im interested in a middle ground of sorts where i just have the dimming on High.

Ive experimented with claude and some custom mpv settings. The highlights can look better already but it tends to brighten the picture more than i need.

So the question is how do i go about this? In High mode i can see highlights can get brighter, i dont expect them to match medium of course. Is there anything out there that can tell mpv to make specualrs or highlights a certain percentage brighter?

Is Retold 60 fps on PC?

Ive been checking but i cant find any confirmation - has there been any word that retold will be a locked 60 fps on PC?

The original was locked and it was a slight annoyance - i remember you could use special K to unlock the frame rate but the refresh rate still locked to 60. Naturally all the issues follow - input lag, response time etc.

I hope they allow us to go higher here.

Updating firmware on linux

Has anyone successfully updated firmware on linux? You can run the connect app from virtualization software with Win and updating the app works but updating the firmware requires reconnects which isnt handled so gracefully. At least on boxes it doesnt seem to work - i havent tried virtualbox or others.

Im curious if anyone has actually got it working and how you did it.

G7 Pro on linux - whats the situation?

Hi guys,

Im deciding on a new controller - mainly something thats an upgrade from my regular series x controller. The g7 pro seems like the ideal candidate but im worried about the back paddles - hows the support in steam and non-steam games?

Im assuming there is a linux driver available that allows the paddles to appear and are configurable - i use xremap alot with some games.

I dont want to deal with any 'put it into a specific mode just to get the buttons configured situation', thats a downgrade in my eyes, especially coming from the ease of the xbox controller.

Remapping F1 - possible?

Im a big fan of remapping key/shortcuts and i have F1 as closing a tab. Chrome handles this in a weird way though.

Depending on where your focus is - either on the tab or the main page, my F1 can either kill a tab or open the Help page. It keeps going back and forth.

Is there any way to stop the Help page from popping up? Im not on Win so it might get even tougher.
