I’d like the ability to use lures/baits between 3/4-2oz at the least, fast action and 2 piece, 8’-0”?
Currently use the Aird X (great rod) but only can take up to 3/4oz (max 1oz).. not great for togs or smaller surf fishing.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Hi! Im about to purchase a ‘laser green shiner’ and ‘bone’ 6” SP minnows for my next surf trip and curious about the leader line setup?!
Planned to do braid>barrel swivel>mono>fast clip>lure; but I get mixed opinions about this. How long should the leader line be in general? Too much leader line won’t allow me to cast far right?
Also how long should the leader line be for high low rig?

Getting more into NJ/NY surf fishing for fall — mainly stripers, blues, and whatever else is around.
I keep seeing: braid → swivel → mono leader → power clip → lure. Do you guys actually use the swivel regularly, or only with lures that create line twist like spoons?
Would you usually run: braid → leader knot → clip → metal / epoxy jig / bucktail / plug?
Also, if you do use a swivel, how long do you keep the leader? Since the swivel has to stay outside the guides, a long leader creates a pretty long lure drop when casting.

Tsunami Trophy II 7’ M + Shimano Nasci C3000HG — 15 lb braid / 20 lb leader
Okuma Rockaway SP 9’7” MH + Shimano Ultegra C5000XG — 30 lb braid / 40–50 lb mono leader
Our first time fishing in saltwater, my kid caught a fluke (not a keeper tho) but she’s pretty stoked and we are mostly going to come back next weekend.

Hi, I’m a beginner along with my two kids 11 and 5 haha.. although they’ve been catching more fish than me tbh, we go to Highstown lake and Robbinsville lake often but I never saw any bass or any bigger fish than Sunfish.
Can anyone recommend any spots nearby, aim is to catch at least one small bass before end of summer!?
We are heading to the Keyport pier to try some saltwater fishing too.. their schools start next week so one last hurrah!!

I’ve been fishing at my local ponds and Highstown lake for a few days (with Daiwa Ex 2500/Tatula Medium/fast) but I really want to go surf/pier fishing and bought the Penn Fierce IV 6000 reel and rod combo on a whim; I mean I did look at everything else but for $125 there’s nothing even close… is the 6000 reel and 9’ medium heavy combo too much for saltwater bait fishing?
Might go to keyport or Manasquan inlet next weekend. Planning to take a few days off after kids go to school 😂 and go fishing 🎣

We use iPhone/ipad for basic LIDAR scans and it’s working ok for us and looking to upgrade to something better. We do mostly renovation projects in the NYC and sometimes basement, fitness centers etc. most apps won’t work without a strong WiFi or phone data connection.
I’ve been looking at Insta 360 + Matterport, some people use this to produce home walkthroughs etc, but, are these scans be used for measurements? I don’t need high level tolerance but +/- is fine.
