Surf Fishing Etiquette

What happened to surf fishing etiquette? This most recent year, I’ve had multiple people fish on top of me after seeing me catch a fish. Last night, after catching a few fish, a guy came over and fished less than 5 yards away from me. Then they got frustrated because I put a few fish on the beach while they were right next to me. They ended up casting over my line to snag me, untangled our lines, then ran over to their buddy to tell them what I was using. Since it’s night time and no one else on the beach, I chose not to be confrontational. Ive also been noticing more people mishandling stipers than ever before. Gills are not handlebars. If you don’t have surf fishing gear and are not willing to get into the water to revive fish, don’t fish at all.

Jokes on them though because I had a banner night while they got not a single fish. Rant over….

First time fishing in Burlington County

Hey all! New to fishing in the US, going after bass mainly I think (was a carp fisherman previously). Have got my hands on a daiwa tatula XT, some senkos and other soft plastics for drop shot, swimbait and wacky / Texas rig. Planning to try the local park lakes / ponds like laurel acres or strawbridge. Anybody got any advice? Is the setup okay? How do you hunt down spots to try and know that it's allowed to access?

Also I know a license is needed, got that sorted!

Sheepshead fishing

Hi,

Been watching lots of Sheepshead fishing videos when scrolling thru FB and tiktok. Never tried fishing for them nor tasted them.

Any spot suggestions in south or central jersey for some good sized ones?

Also dont have a kayak or boat so anywhere I can get to on foot would be helpful

Looking for fishing buddies

I've been bass fishing in Northern and Central Jersey for about 2 or so years now, 27M if that matters. looking for people to fish with, preferably working around a 8-4 schedule with weekends off.

Fishers of any experience are more than fine. I fish with people who run laps around me in knowledge, and those who practically don't know how to tie a Palomar knot. (if you see this you know who you are lol)

I have my own pair of waders and my own fishing kayak so those open up some options. you can either send me a DM or comment on this post. I'll look it either. thanks y'all and best of luck out there

Tiger trout

Beautiful tiger trout caught in NJ. Thought it was either a big brown or rainbow until my fiance netted it and said it was a tiger. Fought very hard but was safely released after a couple of pictures. Not sure if this is a wild tiger or maybe club stocked. Anyone have any thoughts?

Fishing Buddy Today - Central Jersey?

I'm looking for a fishing buddy for today or tomorrow morning in Central Jersey. I’m 40f and new to freshwater fishing. I’d really love to catch my first bass or trout, or both. Actually just anything bigger than a sunny at this point.

I’m not sure if I’ve been setting my line up correctly or maybe just fishing the wrong spots. I’m right next to the D&R Canal. What’s the best beginner setup for bass? I tried the wacky rig, but no luck so far. Does the color of the Senko matter?

Any advice or tips are welcome. I just want to finally catch something.

Looking for tackle shops in the stretch from Atlantic city to Avalon

I’m going down this weekend and I am used to fishing further north like Sea Side and IBSP, looking for tackle shops like Betty and Nicks and Grumpys tackle with a good selection of rods. I’m looking to buy a new surf rod while I’m down there. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Fishing this weekend

Planning on fishing Friday night all night into Saturday morning trying to catch a bass. I’ve been out 5/2 and last Saturday and have been catching fish at the same beach. This past Saturday a 39 incher before first light on a plug. Gonna be hard to top but I’m on a mission. I know the fish are moving north and I’ve been fishing a little north of seaside. Do I stay and fish the same spot that I have been which is my gut feeling to do or head further north towards the raritan? I’m limited on time so this is my only window. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Yet another NJ brown.

Measured at about 21 inches. This fish ate a size 18 BWO. My very first dry fly brown trout. It was amazing.

At first I didn’t know what flies he was eating and I threw an Adam’s. But he didn’t even eat that.

Great Piece Meadows Passaic River Boat Launch

Has anyone ever launched a jon boat from the "kayak launch" I circled? I have a small jon boat and trailer and would want to put it in over here near the Great Piece Meadows and try for some pike, but I don't know if I would be allowed to. Does anyone have any experience launching from here or getting on any pike in the area? Also, if there are any other launches in the area along the Passaic that anyone has used before would be great to know.

- Thanks

Hooked

First trout on a single, barbless spinner. Had 3 come off before the net. But not this one. Had some scaring on him too.
