Doctors are way too casual about post-LEEP bleeding
Honestly I’m hoping I’m the only one who thinks so and that others have had better experiences. I’m 9 days post-LEEP. The last 4-5 days I had the blackish discharge from the medicine in my cervix, then today the bleeding started. Now I was told I might have some bleeding similar to a period. Well this was heavier than any period I have ever experienced in my 2+ decades of having periods. For about 9 hours I bled profusely with clots but never quite to the point of soaking through a large pad within 1 hour, the standard metric for when to go to the hospital. But it was still absolutely terrifying. When I finally got through to a doctor at my clinic she was like oh yeah that happens sometimes but as long as it’s slowed down you’re probably fine.
Idk maybe I’m overreacting. I’m about 3 months postpartum and hemorrhaged then so I think I have a bit of ptsd when it comes to vaginal bleeding, especially since this happened so soon after birth and I haven’t gotten my period back yet so it’s the first bleeding experience I’ve had in over a year. For the doctor, who knows what I went through, to be so chill about it when I was clearly freaking out just made me mad.
In general though, if heavy bleeding is even a remote possibility, it needs to be communicated better with patients. I was not ready for what I experienced today and I hope no one else has to go through it!
