Getting back into it but afraid

So I started skating last year and because of health issues I haven't skated since last winter. The first time I tried I fell and messed up my knee (don't worry I had on knee pads) and had to be off it for a few days. The second time I went to a tennis court and was doing well then fell and sprained my ankle. When I got better I took a few classes.

I'm feeling better now but I'm so afraid of hurting myself again. Not really falling but getting hurt and ending up having to be out of work. How can I get over this? I'll eventually go to lessons again but it's more convenient to just go to the tennis court when I have time.

ETA: I also wanted to ask if something was wrong with my pads since I fell and my knee still got hurt. I'd like some better fitting ones but it's hard because my legs are juicy.
