Not sure if this is common knowledge yet, but over the last couple of months Bielarski and the GRU Authority came to a decision to no longer allow the City's stormwater and solid waste bill to be on GRU's monthly billing. With that decision, the City is now having those service charges be included on annual property tax bills instead of monthly GRU billing statements.

What that decision has resulted in is about a $600-700 increase in everyone's TRIM notice under the non-advalorem fees (not tied to your property value or millage rates) and every single bubba and pensioner on NextDoor talking like they're going to storm the Bastille.

When I received my TRIM notice, I was a little surprised since the proposed millage rates were either unchanged or reduced from last year but then I noticed the non-advalorem on the back and remembered that decision.

Unfortunately it seems like quite a large group of GNV homeowners are incapable of reading their TRIM notice and now will not shut the fuck up about how much their taxes are increasing without acknowledging that the decisions that led to this are the responsibility of the GRU authority and by extension the State of Florida.

It really seems to me like this was an intentional plan to "lower" GRU bills, "increase" property taxes and influence a bunch of...misinformed people... to bitch about property taxes on social media during the leadup to amendment 3 vote.

I also feel like the City screwed themselves for doing what seems to me, minimal public education abt the changes.

I hate paying bills just as much as the next guy but what I hate even more is seeing so many people get so easily manipulated lol.

Thx for coming to my Ted Talk.
