Someone VERY important is about to be admitted to the hospital

THIS IS GOSSIP; TAKE IT AS SUCH

I have a feeling someone important is about to be admitted to one of the hospitals on Archer Rd.

I just watched police roll up and block off several intersections on Archer just a few minutes before a giant motorcade of police escorting a singular Gilchrist ambulance rolled down Archer road coming from the direction of Archer (town, not the road).

I counted 13 marked and unmarked cars driving 60-70mph on Archer w/ lights and sirens moving toward Shands/the VA. That count doesn't include the police cars that were blocking intersections that filed into the motorcade as it passed them.

Anyone know the juicy gossip details?

Far Right-Wing Activist Gestures at Newberry, Florida 4th of July Parade

Far right-wing activist Jeremy Clepper - dressed as Hulk Hogan - has Alachua County locals raising their eyebrows after he raised his hand in a "salute" at a Newberry, Florida 4th of July Parade. Many Newberry citizens are wondering how Clepper and his political signs were allowed in this parade. The Mayor of Newberry, Tim Marden, is an acquaintance of Clepper's as well as a lobbyist for the John Birch Society, a fringe far right-wing organization.

Clepper's sign says "Vote Rockwell OUT" - and is referring to Dr. Sarah Rockwell, a school board member for the Alachua County Public Schools.

According to public records, including police reports and court documents reviewed by Mainstreet Daily News, Clepper has been jailed for two offenses, including leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving involving alcohol. Clepper has been found guilty by a court or judge in five separate incidents, including for battery and several alcohol-related incidents in four counties.

In an interview, Clepper said he doesn’t “handle authority” well but blamed “leftist, liberal police officers” and judges for his arrests and convictions. According to the Main Street Daily News, Clepper's now removed facebook posts have included antisemitic tropes, claiming “the world is controlled by Jews and Muslims,” even criticizing DeSantis for flying to Israel to sign hate crimes legislation. Dr. Rockwell, a frequent target of Clepper's, is Jewish.

Newberry Mayor Tim Marden has openly supported Clepper, appearing in person to ask that the State Board of Education punish the Alachua County Schoolboard and Dr. Rockwell for their reaction to Clepper's erratic behavior at school board meetings. Clepper routinely has gone over his allotted 2 minutes of time, and has been cut off several times by Rockwell. The Florida Board of Education, itself a right-wing organization, has sided with Clepper in the dispute.

Tasty Restaurants for Birthday Celebration

Hey, I want to take my boyfriend out to a nice restaurant for his birthday and though he’s not a picky eater. He would appreciate if the food is actually seasoned and not mediocre so it’s kinda stressful on my part to find something good lol. We haven’t lived here for long and I don’t know any GOOD spots. He likes red meat dishes while I loveee seafood dishes so it would be great if the restaurant is great in both. Also if the restaurant have great drinks (not the typical fountain drinks)/ and or alcohol that frozon/slush like pina colada would be a plus +++ . Seems like a lot but I’m open to recommendations and thank you :)

My primary care physician of 30 years retired and I'm not super happy with the new 'regime'. Anybody have recommendations for a PCP office preferably on the north side of town or Alachua?

I'm an old dude with high BP and that's it for medications (lisinopril FWIW). I'm a drinker and smoke some weed and would prefer a non-judgemental atmosphere if that makes sense. At any rate I'd appreciate any recommendation from y'all for practices that are taking new patients. TIA

Where the hell do I park in downtown?

I have an appointment at a shop in downtown GNV, but there's no parking right there. The lot I see on MAPS near it says a city permit is required. Where am I supposed to park?

It's at the Anatomic Body Arts piercing place.

Nail care recommendations for elderly men?

Asking on behalf of my father— he’s a retired army veteran who does not want the VA anywhere near his feet. He’s got weird thick nails as a relic from his military days and now that he is older he can’t clip them himself. He just moved up here from Tampa Bay where he used to go to a thai nail salon, and he’s hoping to find something similar here because he loved chatting with the ladies who did his nails (he speaks thai).

Any recommendations?

SW 75th St. License Plate reader automated speeding tickets

Anyone else gotten a $100 fine in the mail? Mine says the infraction was June 15th, when Gainesville is practically a ghost town, I do not believe Kanapaha middle school would have been in session that day. If it was it would be practically impossible to speed in the area due to traffic on a two lane road (no way to pass). In any case an automated ticket for going 32 mph on a major roadway is absurd.

Opportunist couples

My fiancee and I are thinking about moving to Gainesville , and the main reasons being more opportunity and better living. Also just wanting a new environment. We are in Columbus, ga, not much going on here. We’ve lived in Florida before, Tallahassee and the Keys, so we understand how Florida can be to some extent. Also, we’d want to live in a nicer area in Gainesville as we have one 8 year old child. Not necessarily like a “rich” neighborhood, we just don’t want to be in the ghetto, and a high crime area. Is Gainesville worth a try, and what are some good areas?

Looking for early 2000s street racing documentary

A few months ago 2-4 I saw a post asking about urban legends and someone posted a YouTube link about the early 2000s street racing scene in Gainesville I wanted to show my friends this home made documentary about a topic we enjoy as we are into racing NASCAR and F1 and it’s an interesting part of our towns history if anyone has the link I would be grateful.

If you lost your keys/hat at Gilchrist Blue Springs Park, they’re outside the bathrooms!

Fiancé and I were at this park earlier, was walking to bathrooms and came across the hat (pictured) and a set of 3 keys (DM me for picture). Left around bathroom area, I hope this finds the right folks!
