Found this little fella in the garden tonight
Put down some kitten food for him and he seemed to enjoy it!
My cat got sick and I survived
We just got a kitten last week and this evening she was sleeping on my boyfriend when she jumped off him and made a weird noise, and he said “I don’t think she’s feeling very well…” and then it happened (on my couch)
I am the kind of emet who can cope with my own illness but not anyone else and I’ve been really in my head about it with the cat (my uncles dog was sick near me once at a family BBQ when I was about 8 and I still remember the horror), but I wanted a kitty so much in the end I let my heart win.
And do you know what? I was mostly OK. I had an adrenaline spike. Heart pounded. I told my BF he would need to clear it, and I got him some paper towels and cleaner and as I came closer I looked at it and I thought…I could deal with that, if I needed to. It was only a little bit. Didn’t look like what a human does. Didn’t smell. I did put a blanket down on the good sofa but I feel like that’s only sensible, right?! She’s curled up now fast asleep a few feet from me and I feel…not great, but better about my ability to deal with this stuff than I did this morning. My main worry is the unexpectedness of it, but the fact that I found the “product” so much easier to deal with than I thought makes me think I’ll be able to deal with that, in time.
I googled “cats emetophobia”
(I did pour myself a stiff drink afterwards, though. I’m not there yet. But I will be.)
I’m getting a new kitten tomorrow. I’ve never had a pet before, let alone a cat, and I’m terrified - she’s so tiny! What do I need to know?
Basically just that, honestly. My partner has had cats before but I am freaking out 😅 we’ve gone and bought her everything I think she immediately needs - a litter box, a bed, a scratching post, food bowls, carrier, a couple of toys - and I know I need to get her registered with the vet and get her jabs asap, but she’s only 8 weeks old and she’s so weeny!
