devilcorp isn't enough to decribe these companies

its me again, long story short following up with my previous post abt how i got scammed:

i moved to another city to work as an "marketing intern" for them. since im on student visa, i need to have work authorization, and i need to get myself an offer letter + a paper that proved my legal employment.

on the offer letter it said the weekly guarantee paid is $800 and the paycheck comes biweekly, so normally what people expect is to get 1600 by their third week. just got my paycheck yesterday and it was 600. i got confused, so i asked my manager what happened.

"oh, so the 800 in the offer letter is just to pass the minimum wage required to apply for work authorization. the actual paid you got is 600/week"

literally wanted to quit immediately after that. then i asked "okay still it supposed to be 1200. where's the other 600?"

"oh so we pay you the first week on the third week. so basically, you get paid everyday with the amount you make 2 weeks before". whats more is that they told me that if i dont make any sales in a week they not gonna even pay me a single penny.

weird how they talk about making tons of money in this industry and the managers wearing cheap ass suits from temu with a huge ripoff on their back. i smell poverty. my dad gives me 1000 every month and tbh im good with being unemployed

i was like okay sounds good imma pass on that.

i quit yall. im paying 800 for this rent in the city I'm at, the due is in the 5th. im working my ass off 12hrs a day (they expecting me to do extra on literally SATURDAY FOURTH OF JULY). not even able to cover my rent.

peace out yall and this is a warning for all of you guys out there falling for this trap: you're wasting your time, effort, and risking your health on this bs.

i think i got scammed

i got my internship this summer as a marketing intern for a 'marketing firm' (thats what they called themselves). got really excited bc i applied for 300+ this year and this is the only one i got.

went through 2 interview rounds, trial day and stuffs, and i met the team in person for 'team night'. people were fun, active, the energy was awesome. i got excited.

the first thing they asked for is my major in college, since im on f-1 cpt. just so you know, international students are dead af bc none of the companies want to go through paperwork with us, which i appreciate this company a lot. they asked for my majors to put into the offer letter (?), which was weird, bc if the job is stable then you'd have your own job descriptions.

got the offer letter 2 days after, FULL AI GENERATED. the job descriptions were completely from Chat. and i went back to the LinkedIn job posting, and those two descriptions were totally different from each other. i was like oh okay sth fishy, bc on LinkedIn it was listed as 'event management, marketing analytics, social media marketing'

but i couldnt go back. summer started alr.

first day at work, i showed up early, literally excited af. first two hours, fully training. working habits, expectations, etc. then i started to realize this is not a marketing role, this is a sales role. i don't like doing sales, not bc i can't, but bc my career goal isn't sales even though im studying communications.

i was having weird feelings. but i still give it a try. office starts at 9 for interns, went through trainings, clinics (?), and team meetings where people start counting sales made throughout the week. then 11am everybody rushed out of the office, and i thought it was lunchtime.

we arrived at a local Kroger/Walmart. i was like wth.

i asked my colleague when we got there if we're doing this often. he was like 'no we do this everyday'

i am now working a 9-7 job (sometimes 9-8), guarantee paid but it wasn't enough to even cover up my rent (i have to relocate), attend several team nights which we have to network with people who are in a higher level. i honestly truly don't want to do any of this, bc i got scammed in the first place.

they always talk about having a good attitude and positive mentality, always asking ppl to work everyday (i got scared everytime i ask to have a day off on a Saturday), expect people to make sales every single day, and everything is just unorganized af. they dgaf about your problem, they genuinely dont care if youre dying or having health problems, they will still ask you to "take meds, drink some water, and i will see you tomorrow"

even if im dying they will still expect me to show up. i genuinely hate doing this, i wasnt doing everything to get scammed and being told to have a positive thought everyday. like man, nobody's gonna have a positive mindset if they have a 9-8 job, networking w people after work, go back home at 11, and wake up at 6am the next day.

i asked one of the other successful manager the other day and they were like "oh there is no work life balance in this field"

what field man?
