ITT, post Ricky’s handsomest looks and moments in the show.

That’s the thread, just post pictures of Rick looking more attractive than usual. 🔥

The pilot episode suggests Ricky was going to be a pipe smoker.

One of the things Ricky says he wants his wife to do when he comes home from work is light his pipe, to which Lucy states he doesn’t smoke one. At the end of the episode he says the same thing, but Lucy gives him a real pipe this time.

Ricky would have had the stereotypical image of a husband and father of the ‘50s. Reading the newspaper with pipe in mouth and wear a smoking jacket which he already canonically owns. I’m not endorsing in smoking, but damn he would’ve looked so classy if we ever got a shot of that in the final show.

Lucy/Lucille and Ricky/Desi animated stick figures.

I’m an animation fan, so these little cartoon versions of them interest me and are also very cute! I watched a few of them on YT with varying degrees of video quality. They have that simplistic yet charming mid-century UPA style which I absolutely love. Cool to know that William Hanna and Joseph Barbara were the animators behind them from what I‘ve read.

Some of my favorites include the Philip Morris ad of Lucy eagerly jumping from the cigarette pack as Ricky hesitantly does so, the bumper where they go to a drive-in theater, and one of the intros to the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour Show which featured cartoon Little Ricky/Keith.

Is there any HD versions of these animations online?

Some of my favorite moments from “Lucy Goes to the Hospital”.

I added the spoiler tag just in case anyone here has not seen this episode yet.

Lucy and Ricky kissing and hugging each other one last time before Lucy goes to the delivery room was very sweet, but also sad because of how worried Ricky was he couldn’t be with his wife during that time. The little reassuring pat Lucy gives when hugging him and the little waves as they part added to this scene.

Ricky nervously pacing and lighting a cig in the father’s waiting room, in contrast to the nonchalant father reading the newspaper while munching on an apple, already having 6 daughters and just looks done with everything.

Ricky asking Fred and Ethel to help push him to the nursery window to see his newborn son. He was both too excited and scared to meet his baby boy and it was cute how he called his friends to help him work up that courage. I think it would have been better if he didn’t wear the scary makeup, but the nurse’s reactions to it was the most I’ve laughed at the show thus far so it doesn’t really take away from all of the scene.

My thoughts on Ricky Ricardo/Desi Arnaz.

I‘ve started watching ILL this past week and been enjoying it so far, brings genuine laughs from me. But the main reason I decided to check it out is because I find Ricky/Desi really attractive. However, I feel sort of conflicted about both the character and actor. For Ricky, he obviously loves Lucy and I‘ve seen clips of him being a good father to Little Ricky. But I just got through the episodes where he attempts to drug Lucy with the sleeping pill and spanks her. I think the former is more egregious since the latter felt more like a joke to show that Lucy was acting childish so she gets reprimanded like one. I still acknowledge the time period it was released in and how standards have changed overtime.

For Desi, the main thing I’ve heard is that he was unfaithful to Lucille which led to their divorce but still remained close friends afterwards. I don’t think he was a bad person per se, but of course cheating isn’t a good thing to do. For me, it’s a bit hard sometimes to separate the actor from the character they play when you are reminded of the stuff they’ve done (again, I don’t think Desi was a bad man, just flawed).

Maybe I’m just trying to get rid of any guilt for crushing on this hot Cuban DILF. 😵‍💫

Has anyone here used Istation for English and computer classes in elementary school?

Despite boring me at times, it was genuinely fun to play when I was interested in the subject being taught outside of just reading and comprehension. My favorite characters were Amelia Chameleon (who I only got once or twice) and Justin Time for their scientific themes, which kid me adored. I found a pdf with character bios of the advanced reading characters which include the aforementioned ones above. Check it out if you want to jog your memory a bit. I really wish there was gameplay online of these characters.
