Is it the ONE?

Hello my friends.

Currently I'm hopping around from distro to distro to find the one for my needs.

I have a Honor Magicbook 16 with a ryzen 5 5600h.

Use case mostly are daily driving, indie and cloud gaming, occasional kodi server.

Went with bazzite first, all good but immutable system block some thing for me.

Then went to fedora. Felt okay but had to finetune for my indie gaming needs (not knowing what else is missing).

Then installed pop!os for half a day when I heard about nobara.

Went straight with that, felt good but seemed to overdrive the ventillators even in idle state.

The went back for pop!os (currently running) to save more on battery when its needed but still maintain good power management and keeps me up with multimedia and gaming.

But cachy was always here and there through suggestions but always said it needs proper maintain with updates, weekly or bi-weekly.

Generally I allow to update the machine by itself when it is up and running, no problem with that. But how crucial is that to maintain Cachy in general daily driver laptop? Is it really that niche to have it or it can be stable and reliable as I believe?

Thanks for your help.

Nobara update stability in 2026 May?

hello my lovely friends. i would like to rely on your experience on nobara now... so I bought recently a good full AMD laptop. General premium laptop, no dedicated gpu. basicly for daily driving, heavy indie gaming and heavy geforce now gaming, media consumption and so on. targeted to go full linux, this is why I targeted to go AMD.

so I started with bazzite, all good, except the immutability, caused mi to hassle around with some devvices to touch etc... went from there to nobara for one day... but heard how crazy the update can be, so I went fully clear Fedora KDE. but I feel sometimes that nobara is pulling back with the promise of extra juice from the laptop, with all the codex, so getting the most power and function out of this machine as much as possible.

so HOW is the Nobara Update? does it really so unreliable?
