Weck Jars - should I get the plastic lids?

Going to give milk kefir making a try. Was gonna pick up some nice weck jars. For the fermentation should I get the plastic lids? Or can I just use the glass lids that come with the Wecks to make the kefir?

Thanks

AIOstreams: Filter out trailers in movie results?

I tried deciphering the SEL language docs but couldn’t figure it out. Anyway to filter out results in movie searches that end up being trailers? Like is there a runtime filter for movie results? (>1hr)

Any concerns with this young ginkgo?

We planted this ginkgo 2 years ago.. approximate height about 10ft. We’ve noticed these on the bark this year, and figure they are from some animal. Leaves otherwise look healthy.

Weighing install location (outdoor vs. inside garage) costs

Hi all

I'm exploring installation location options for an EV charger. (FYI in Canada and I think we've landed on SWTCH for our EVSE).

Anyway, we have a detached garage and our initial thought was to run the line from the house to the garage where we currently charge with a regular 120v outlet (PHEV).

However, it would require some excavation work of some patio bricks and also replacing the stones /sand after the work is done. This would add I think about close to $1000 to the cost (ESA inspection is also higher cost with trench work).

Alternatively, we could just install it on the exterior wall of the house where it would still reach our car parked in the garage. We'd find some way to run the cable safely under a closed door (UNDOR has a product)

Other than maybe a cable crossing crossing from the exterior wall to the garage, is there any big downside to having the charger outdoors?

Grizzle-E chargers still problematic? (Canada options)

Hi all

We are looking into installing an L2 charger for when we go full EV (we just have PHEV now). I was intrigued by the Grizzle-E Club benefits, but see their chargers are noted to have problems from the stickied post.

Any recent updates on this, or is it safer to just go with a different one? I am eyeing Emporia or EVDuty I think but open to other suggestions. In Canada, so I have to do a bit more digging into costs for these here. We are on a 100amp panel but don't think we will need to upgrade, but are interested in potentially a charger with power management just in case.

Thanks!

Sleeping pad recs (prioritizing comfort)

Hi all

I know this is an ultralight subreddit but wanted some Canadian perspectives (re: price and availability) on a sleeping pad that prioritizes comfort over weight (light but doesn't have to be the lightest)

Le currently have S2S ultralight insulated which we find uncomfortable, and the mummy shape a bit to constricting.

I'm currently looking at the Thermarest NeoAir XLite NXT Max Sleeping Pad (regular wide) as a potential option. We don't camp really below freezing so R value not as crucial I think. I know the recent Nemo tensors are well-regarded too.

Any opinions or alternatives? I was almost set on the Big Agnes SL Rapide insulated based on reviews, but then saw the newest versions (2024-) aren't great.
