Where do we stop with phone sizes?

Where do we stop with phone sizes?

I remember having a chuckle back when Zoolander came out and he showed off his high tech tiny phone.

Since then, we seem to be wanting to push the limits of what is acceptable to carry instead of keeping things functionally viable.

I want something that fits in my pocket and doesn't make me feel like it's going to break every time I bend...

With the massive push to be working 24x7x365, 100% available to our employers, social media accounts and communities, how do we stop the pocket computer continuing to grow in size?

wobble wobble

I made this for Umbriel and ported it back to biri... looks very cool :)

Commit 7256ccf has just turned me away from niri.

I am a user of LLM's. I produce code that is usable and has improved massively over time.

My potential contributions are NOT worthless.

More focus ring fun

So, per window rules for with their own speed, glow throw distance etc etc... And none of this impacts the visual content of the window, unlike some of my full window and global shaders

NEW!!! Animated focus rings...

I have just riced focus rings! So the full window shaders may not be for everyone ( I know they are a lot...) but a more subtle shift is now available. Animated rings.

In this example, the ghostty window has a rule to enable to shader based ring the tow foot windows do not have...

Works with existing shaders etc...

niri overview coverflow for multiple outputs

More crazy breaking stuff in my experimental niri fork.

This time I am trying to find a decent way to deliver on my vision for https://github.com/niri-wm/niri/discussions/4337

My early tests were using cards and blurs and stuff and just felt awful.

So I changed tack and went to a coverflow style instead. This is still incomplete but it is working very well, still lots to do but I am liking where it is headed!

Visual aid shaders

Hello all, I am trying to not only make eye candy scenarios with my shaders.
If you have a visual impairment taht requires some for of additive/adjustive behaviour on screen, please could you link me to a video, website, image - that gives you pain, and maybe a type hint of your type of impairment (visual snow - as the video, protan/tritan/deutan etc)

Shaders using niri-time

I made a few non-static shaders using niri-time...
The foot terminals are all coloured by foor themes, the effects above are shaders

Fun with shaders in niri

So I have been playing with shaders in niri and having fun. cursor effects, full screen filters, IPC integrated for keybind fun.
This is all AI generated so not coming to a niri near you soon :)

Niri shader toy...

I have been paying with AI and shadertoys and had a crack at a shader built directly into niri.
It's looking pretty cool (for those of us that love custom theming...)
It's not been properly looked at but early tests are showing its ok in GPU use, not got any issues with screen recording, video meetings and many other daily driver tasks. Once I have a lot more testing done, I will create a branch from my fork for this (not going to submit a PR as this is 100% AI generated at this stage)

Genuine question. I started using Nix almost a year ago as my daily driver. I came off of QubesOS for my personal compute and Win 10 for work.

With a little llm help I set up my first NixOS machine and have had a rock solid system ever since.

I have changed machines, installed Nix on Darwin, used home manager, tried every wm from KDE to cosmic to niri and I have always used the unstable channel.

I am 400 generations into my NixOS life and I have had almost none of the problems I see people regularly posting about here.

What am I doing wrong that it isn't breaking all the time?
