What’s missing in your city’s creative scene that a platform like this could fix?

Creative Swansea is aiming to bring creatives, organisations, and opportunities together under one hub. If your local creative community had a platform built for it, what would you want most- jobs, networking, showcases, events, collaborations?

I stumbled across this book from another post recently that completely changed how I think about food.

We’re so used to fridges, supermarkets, and next day delivery that I honestly never stopped to think about how people actually ate before all that existed. This book is basically a collection of old recipes that were designed to last months or even years without refrigeration. The same kind of food our great grandparents (and great great grandparents) relied on.

What surprised me most wasn’t even the recipes, it was the mindset. Everything was about making food stretch, using what you had, and not relying on systems that could disappear overnight. Reading it made me realize how dependent we are now compared to even a couple generations ago.

I’ve tried a handful of the recipes so far. Some are definitely outside my normal rotation, but a few were genuinely good and oddly satisfying knowing they’d keep without power or fancy storage.

It’s less of a cookbook and more of a little history lesson disguised as one. Made me appreciate how resilient people used to be, especially when it came to food. I wanted to make this post as a bit of a shoutout to the creators for putting it together and the person who shared it here a couple months back (I couldn't find the old post to go back and comment).

Here's the website I bought the cookbook from, it's a pretty niche book so I don't think it's available on any mainstream platforms - survivalsuppers.com

Where can I play Pokemon tcg in Swansea?

Hey all! I’ve recently built a few Pokémon decks and I'm looking to play in person. I'm mostly looking for a casual, social vibe to meet people rather than super intense competitive tournaments.

Are there any local card shops, leagues, or board game meetups in the area that are beginner-friendly? I know about the gamers emporium on High Street, but wanted to see if they do casual nights or if there are other spots around town I should check out. Thanks!

Food at Swansea Uni

Swansea uni has to be kidding. This is the serving size you get at singleton’s harbwr for £5.25. We understand the price is not that high but this serving for an adult????

Where do the students go? The options are pastries from Greggs (on bay there’s not even that) or this.

Can only imagine how bad it must be for the vegans and halal preferring muslims

Anyone looking for a house swap to Scottish Highlands?

I have a large 3 bedroom house in Thurso with Cairn Housing Association. Thurso is a lovely seaside town on the North coast of Scotland. If you want a quiet safe community by the sea this would be perfect. The nearest city is Inverness which is a 2 and a half hour drive so a move here would be a big lifestyle change for most. Thurso does have supermarkets, a quiet high street with mostly gift shops, schools, GP, pharmacy etc. All of these and a lovely beach are within walking distance. The house has -
▪️2 double bedrooms
▪️1 single bedroom
▪️large living room/dining room
▪️large newly fitted kitchen
▪️utility room
▪️2 bathrooms (1 is a wet room)
▪️partially floored attic
▪️very large fenced in garden

As I am planning to move, the house could do with a fresh paint and new carpets.

I am looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom house (no flats) to be closer to my daughter. I am not looking for a busy scheme but somewhere quiet within roughly a half hour drive to a city.

Ive just discovered Mr Saltpep, god damn that’s some good food! New favourite local takeaway.

Some might argue this is a pointless post but I’m a fatty and food makes me happy!

Swansea genuinely has some unreal scenery when the weather behaves ☀️

Visited Oystermouth Castle last weekend and honestly the views and atmosphere around Mumbles were unreal. Places like this genuinely make Swansea feel underrated sometimes. What’s everyone’s favourite scenic spot around Swansea?

Zoolander at the Gwyn Hall

Hi everyone! We are the Gwyn Hall Young Film Programmers, and we would love to invite the people of reddit to our screening of Zoolander! We're taking a bit of a risk putting on this cult comedy classic, and it would mean so much to us if people would take a chance and come down to support an independent cinema & young people trying to break into the world of film! The Gwyn Hall is brilliant and too many people don't know how lucky we are to have this place right on our doorstep :-) It would be awesome to see some of you there!

Physio recommendations in Swansea?

Just moved to Swansea and need a decent physio for a recurring back issue. Ideally someone who actually gets to the root of the problem rather than just treating it quickly and sending you off with exercises.

Not really sure what’s good locally yet so just after honest recommendations from people who’ve actually been and got results.

Im on the lookout for a job in swansea, my mental health has not been great throughout my lift and i struggle working with teams so i prefer to work alone and get on with my job. Is there any suggestions or anyone who thinks they know any jobs that would suit my situation? Preferably not a multi drop amazon job but i know there are niche driving jobs but they are hard to come by. Any suggestions would be appreciated thank you

Is the new Lazerzone location any good?

My group of mates were talking about the idea of going there for nostalgia at like 7pm before a night out - but I'm worried the reality won't be as good...has anyone been since it moved?
