We are on the first floor of a co-op. For the past week we have been hearing loud and gurgling noises coming out of our shower drain when upstairs neighbors are taking showers. This happens when we are not running any water.
Our drain is fine when we take showers and we use a hair catcher. The super said this is happening because of all the dirt in the main line and this happens to first floor units sometimes.
A tiny tiny bit of water pushes up from the drain pipe from our clawfoot tub and ends up on the floor of our bathroom.
We emailed the property management and they said they can send a plumber to come snake in our apartment. I don't want to end up getting billed for a plumber for our unit when the issue is not inside of our unit.
I replied to them asking if they can do it outside of our unit like in the basement.
Do they need access into our apartment to fix the main line?
Is this the best course of action?
Should I be phrasing it some other way? Or could it end up being our fault?
