Is it time to just give up and look into subbing/teaching at a charter or private at this point

Title says it all, still no offers from the DOE and there is a month left before the school year starts. I'm from out of state and was hoping to move to new york at this point, at the very least two weeks before the start of the year, but it seems less and less likely

How Many Emails is too much/should be the max you send to inquire about a position at a school

Doesn't matter if it's an actual opening you saw on New Teacher Finder/vacancy lists or if you are just sending a cold email to ask about any openings they might have, what's a rule of thumb? I've sent an initial email to all my preferred schools with my resume, cover letter, and letters of rec, and then a week to ten days after i send a follow up in the same thread. still not getting any responses.

Subbing Actually a Good Way to Connect with Dream Schools? Better than working at a Charter for a Year?

Hey y'all, I made a post yesterday about my current situation as an out of state applicant and received a lot of helpful advice and information, thank you so much y'all! Essentially I have everything turned in for my certification and am just waiting for it to be processed and given back to me (I also am still waiting on my exam results, both my subject CST and EAS, but don't think I will have to retake them, at least hopefully not lol). I've also been struggling a lot with receiving any responses from schools that I really like and see as a great fit. I'm not trying to be the most picky but neighborhood/area and student demographics are super important to me. Anyways I wanted to ask if people would suggest that I sub for the year, even after finishing my teacher ed program and receiving my masters and California license this past year, over working at a charter school. It seems that charters are even worst in NYC. I've also heard and seen online that subbing is a great way to have an "in" with the district and specific schools that I would want to end up applying for a full position at once my certification becomes fully processed, is this true? If anyone has experience in that or information or have seen others do that, I would really appreciate it! For context I'm looking to teach high school English.

Out of State Applicant Looking for Some Hope

Hey y'all, like mentioned I am an out of state applicant currently going through both the reciprocity process for certification as well as applying to high schools in the DOE. I'm having a hard time staying strong and having faith that I will land a job at a school that I actually like and will feel supported in, alongside being in a neighborhood community that I want to be a part of. My ideal location is in Queens, specifically around the Jackson Heights area and overall west side of the borough, but at this point I have had to be much much more open to other places, mostly in the Bronx and Brooklyn. I keep emailing principals and APs from all over to no avail really, especially at the schools that I'm heavily interested in and seem like would be a great fit. I guess I'm just wondering why am I getting so little responses from places, especially after sending emails and follow up emails literally with every single school. I was recently excited because I had a Zoom interview with a school that I did like and was very interested in and everything seemed to go great (interviewer said so themselves) and was supposed to hear back about next steps last Friday and was even directed to send some more information and materials to the school. Well after doing my part there has been no communication and same story after sending a follow up the other day. I'm just so worried about not landing a job soon because I really am trying to have that secure before fully moving into the city, but at this point it feels like I'll have to move before finalizing anything with a school. What is scaring people off? That I'm out of state and a new teacher? That my certification is not processed yet, even though I have submitted all materials needed and heard that schools have the opportunity to communicate with the state department to get your certification processed quicker if they choose to hire you. I feel as though my resume is as good as it can be and same with my cover letter that explains my approaches and student teaching experience last year, as well as having very confident letters of rec. I just am kind of lost and worried at the moment tbh. If anyone has any words of wisdom or advice or even yet just things to keep me going I'd be so appreciative.
