Dogs in crates in pick up truck.

This has just been eating at me since yesterday. Came out of Walmart on Blanding in Orange Park around noon, hearing a dog absolutely frantically screaming. Walmart employee pushing carriages stopped and ran in my direction and passed me about four cars away. I followed to see. Two absolutely beautiful English black labs in two separate crates in the back of a pick up truck, both howling and screaming. Employee banged on the window because the engine was running. Young woman in the passenger seat looked shocked at us. Employee asked if they were her dogs she said yes. Employee and I said this is wrong, it was 90° in the direct sun and the dogs were very confined not able to turn around. Couple of minutes later a guy casually came walking towards us on a phone, swinging a small bag. Employee asked if they were his dogs, he shrugged and said yes what’s the problem. We told him this was definitely wrong and possibly illegal to have these dogs in the heat like this. Employee said we should call the police, he said go ahead. He said he just came from the vet, OK? I said then take them home first and get them out of the heat. He pulls out a bag of yogurt? and two rawhide bones out of the bag and proceeds to unwrap the bones. Guy was an absolutely no hurry to go anywhere. Did not have any water to offer the dogs. He then gets in the truck and drove away. Were we wrong? OK everybody’s gonna say call the police, but by the time they got there, they would be long gone. And yes, at least he didn’t have them running around loose in the bed of the truck, they looked like they could’ve been a breeding pair magnificent animals. It just hurt to see these animals suffer. Don’t tell me he hasn’t done this before.

My daughter lives a block off the St. Johns river in Jacksonville, FL. Lots of owls and birds of prey and something dropped this in her garden. She won’t touch it, but says it looks like feathers or hair. Iguana, or other lizard?
