This may be an odd post but I’ve always had good luck finding awesome people in this subreddit.

So the situation is I have a chance to escape my awful home life in Texas and move to New Hampshire back with my old roommate but I have no way of getting there. So I was wondering if there would be anyone interested in taking the time to become friends and then at the end of July go on a road trip together from Texas to New Hampshire. We can stop in at hotels and site see along the way of course.

I am currently living with my mom down south while I try to build my career. But living here is so terrible. I really just want to find a roommate, move out, and get a part time job anywhere at this point. I will contribute as best as I can to the rent and make up for the rest by cooking for us and doing the dishes and laundry. But I don’t want a roommate who is a slob. I can’t stand bugs so I need to know that you are being mindful and cleaning up after yourself.

I would really like a roommate who is like a friend that I can do stuff with. For instance I’m plus size and on a weight loss journey so I’d love to go on walks together and go to the gym together. I’d love to watch movies together sometimes or even find a book to read together. I also enjoy car rides and would love to be passenger princess until I learn how to drive. I’m very bubbly and giggly and affectionate so I will be your biggest cheerleader and love to give hugs.

Also I do have a cat. She doesn’t really shed but she is a little chunky baby so I do have to help clean her from time to time but don’t worry that’s fully my responsibility and won’t ever make it your problem. She’s very sweet and basically just eats, drinks, and naps all day aside from when she wants to play fetch.

Lastly I’m African American and I don’t discriminate against any ethnicity, gender, age, or orientation. I am respectful of others beliefs just as I hope you would be respectful of mine.

I envision us texting for a bit, exchanging photos when we’re ready and then starting to do phone calls to get to know each other better. Then we plan a visit or if we feel pretty sure about each other than we can just decide when I’m moving in and figure out the logistics together. Ideally I’d love to move within the next month or so and by the end of the summer.

I would love to find someone I can go to for advice about anything and build up a bond and trust with to be a long term (or hopefully) life long mentor for me.

Especially right now I’m trying to navigate a frustrating time in my life where I’m back living with a family member and it’s been an awful experience. I am grateful to have a place to stay but outside of that, the way my family acts and talks is just so awful and frustrating.

I have been working really hard on applying to places because I just want to make enough so I can move out and away from my awful family but I just haven’t had any luck no matter what I do.

I’ve even tried to find a roommate who would be interested in letting me stay in exchange for me taking care of the cooking and stuff and I did find a couple of people that I vetted but then they ended up ghosting.

So overall I’m feeling pretty lost and confused and I just wish I a had parent or mentor who was there for me. I always wondered what it would be like to have a decent parental figure in my life. I’m hoping to find that here. So if that sounds like you then feel free to commend or message me directly. I could really use all the help I can get.

I’m kind of an introvert so I would love to have a friend who wants to do chill things like go for long drives, watch movies, read together, cook together, go to the gym together, etc.

Also, I’m looking for a second job, something part time and basic like retail. So bonus points if you work somewhere like that because I can apply there and we can be work buddies.

I would just really like a friend who I can hang out with throughout the week either here or at your place. The hope is of course that we become best friends over time but I promise not to rush to that or be super clingy at first.

Some things to know about me: I’m African American, plus size, queer community ally, and atheist. I don’t expect you to be all of these things as well lol, you just need to be respectful of me and I will always be respectful of you.

Also I do have social anxiety but I am working through it and making friends is definitely going to be a huge milestone for me so I’m really looking forward to this.

Is there anyone who could get me a job where they work or anyone looking for someone to work for them?

I’m open to most jobs and don’t mind jumping in where needed and learning new skills.

I’ve always longed for a friend who can become my best friend and then we live together and hang out all the time and do lots of things together like go to the gym, cook, watch movies, run errands, etc.

I want a friendship like this so much. Of course it would happen overtime. Not tomorrow lol I wish. But we would start chatting online and then see each other in-person and then move in.

Sadly my mom and dad are not people I can look to for guidance. I would like either a mother figure or father figure in my life or both if I’m lucky enough to find that.

I want mentors for my life in general. My dad is no longer in my life at all, but my mom still is. Her and I recently reconnected and then I went to live with her temporarily while I try to navigate finding a better job because she said it would be a good way for me to get away from my messy roommate and save money. And so I moved in with her because I really thought she had changed. Sadly she has not so I’m trying to make my stay here even quicker.

I can go into more detail about what mean/messed up things my mom and my dad have done because I know sometimes people want that context so let me know if you need me to explain further.

So the first mentorship I’d love is help with navigating this situation and finding a better job so I can move out. I really strive to gain true independence in my life. I’ve never been independent before for various reasons but I always wanted to be.

Ultimately my top goals in life would be to be financially stable, learn to drive, get my first apartment, get my first credit card/build my credit, and get healthy/lose weight.

Hi I’m new to Texas and I live near Cypress and The Woodlands. I live with family until I get settled in here. I freelance but I’m on the hunt for a true W-2 job. Something I can do while I’m working towards becoming a pharmacy technician.

I told myself I would wait til then to start finding friends but my family is driving me crazy lol so I need to get out or have friends over.

Anyways what I would like in a best friend is someone who can start off chatting with first online before we meet in person so we can see if our personalities align.

Once we start hanging out I’d love to workout together, cook together, watch movies, have deep conversations, and laugh about TikTok videos. And work towards becoming best friends.

I like a friend who recognizes that we don’t have to spend a bunch of money or drink/smoke to have a good time. I’m not a snob I just personally don’t like the taste of alcohol or the smell of smoke.
