Trying to get more food for less? Can’t do that

I know I posted yesterday but with my job, it’s expected and oh boy.

So context for those reading this for the first time: like a month ago, she ordered a single soft shelled taco and asked to have it in a bowl. She then asked for extra items so it can be charged as a taco. The line was very long so instead of arguing with her, my coworker gave her a discount to not make things worse (ie holding up the long line).

So she returned today and did the same thing. Except, said coworker was doing something else, I told another coworker what was in it, and there was like four people in line. She was told that because the taco shell can’t hold it (and was barely visible) she would be charged for the bowl and she asked if she can get more food. We allowed it cause why argue with people who think they can get away with cheating the system, right?

Well, the amount she asked (both of the rice and beans) made the bowl heavy, resulting in me having to shift the weight of the bowl and it wouldn’t close so she was charged for the bowl and sides. She tried to argue that it was a taco but my coworker told her that because of the amount that she asked was making things hard to close, we had to charge her.

The other people in the line looked at her confused and I guess that made her realize that she was making herself look like she was born yesterday.

She paid (and got a drink idk if she bought it or on the house idc) and we just went about our day.

The amount of entitlement I dealt in a span of two work days is crazy.

Accused of giving them a fake $100

Hello again. This happened yesterday.

I didn’t see the whole thing happen but saw enough and was told about it by said coworker who was accused.

Yesterday, a woman (maybe early 20s) asked my coworker if he can break a $100 bill. He told her “no, i don’t think so” he checked the cash register and there wasn’t enough to break the bill and closed the cash register. She still had the bill.

She was also buying food and then used the bill (common with my job) and he took the bill, but he knew it was fake cause of the feeling of it.

In the US, our bills are made out of a mixture of 75% cotton and 25% linen so it has a fabric texture that many people in the US know how it feels. He said it felt like paper.

He still put it in the machine that checks to see if it’s real or not. It said regretted and he gave it back to her and told her it was a fake.

There are two ways the cash register opens, a key and putting in the amount of cash that is being used to pay with.

By law, he was supposed to confiscate the bill and call the police but he gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking that she was given the fake bill.

Like two or so hours later, she came back with her dad to accuse him of giving her the fake bill. He told her that he didn’t have the register when he checked it and I said that I saw that and it was closed.

Our manager showed them the video from the cameras.

Love my job but oh boy are the people who come in are something else.

I deleted the first one due to a major error on my part

Some snippets of some people who I encountered at work

I work at a fast food place that is known for having to pay extra for two toppings.

Two happened a while ago, one last week and the other yesterday.

The first one, a woman got mad that she had to pay maybe $0.60 in taxes for her food. She wanted the kids chips but we don’t typically sell them as a side because of how small they are. She wanted the refund and the chips, to which my coworker had to explain that we can’t legally do that, her son was embarrassed. The kids chips are like $1.50.

A mom and her kids (at least I think) ordered like six things of food. There was a woman behind them who was getting two entrees and the mom bought her food, why no clue. So we had to remake the lady’s food. The mom forgot one of the bags and like 30 or so minutes later she came back and like demanded her bag. Her daughter pointed to where the bag was. Apparently the kids also wanted drinks and couldn’t take no for an answer.

Then they came back again and just stared at my coworker working on cash.

A woman decided to try to get extra food for less. She asked for a soft taco in a bowl and piled on the food. Yeah, that doesn’t really work.

This one, I don’t even know why she was like this. She came up and got two bowls and then saw the beans. Of course, beans closer to the top will be dry but it’s all fresh. She asked if we opened at 11 am and I said “no we opened at 10:45 am”. She checked her wrist which didn’t have a watch and said that the beans look as if they were a day old. She also said she worked as a kitchen manager and that “she would know”, she said that she didn’t want beans anyways. She left. There were people behind her. The guy right behind her looked to be as confused.

Luckily the majority of the people who come in are nice and polite, many being regulars and are very friendly.

Might make more in case I encounter more people who act like things are handed to them on a silver platter.

ETA: it’s apparently the called the meal tax. That’s 6%. I edited the body to correct it but kept what I originally put. Yes it’s high but I’m a food service worker so I can’t do shit

ETA 2: ok I fucked up. Why I put 6% idk. That’s what the price is and we rarely (if ever) sell them as a side. Ask the corporation why it’s that price. Sorry for any confusion, I don’t understand taxes 😭😭😭

ETA3: I get it, I’m a fucking dumbass. We don’t sell the kids chips.

Though I do remember another tale. It was in between the woman who wanted the chips for free and the taco lady.

ETA 4: changed the price cause I’m like 100% I fucked up. Please stop saying shit about the price I put. I’m only telling the stories.
