Giant Troll Costume

Loosely inspired by the Thomas Dambo troll in our neighborhood.  Exterior shell is all cardboard, with hot glue for adhesion.  Internal structure is an old backpacking frame + wood struts.  Full weight is 35 lbs.  I did a 3D model in Blender and used papercraft-maker.com to convert that into papercraft templates printed on paper and laid over the cardboard for cut and fold lines.  I initially started with an Xacto blade but upgraded to an electric cardboard cutter at some point during the project, which was clutch.  The costume has made an appearance at both Halloween and a recent neighborhood parade with nothing falling apart entirely, so I'll call it a success!

With all the karma-farming GF flaky pastry stolen-valor in the past week, I was inspired to take another crack at making croissants this weekend. This is Aran Goyoaga's The Art of GF Bread recipe (excerpted at https://www.americastestkitchen.com/recipes/17045-gluten-free-croissants). My lamination is definitely getting more consistent but I still don't have the technique (or patience for the long rise?) to get that internal airiness that I've seen from other croissant MVPs (shout-out to u/Current_Cost_1597 u/lainyyy and others). But I know I'm making progress because I no longer have smoke pouring from the oven from too much melted butter 😜
