Transfer students don’t get a lot of help here

We are honestly treated like a complete afterthought. From the long transfer process and the lack of advisors available to help ensure our credits transfer properly, to the obvious favoritism and advantages given to in house students, the entire process feels completely unfair.

The only thing that really works in my favor is that I work at a partnered hospital and I have a prior bachelors.

For instance, I’ve been trying to get in touch with an advisor for what feels like forever, with absolutely no success. You would think that as a transfer student, you would automatically be assigned an advisor or at least have someone available to help you navigate the process. Nope

I’m an AO student, I can’t just walk in and schedule an in person advisor

I was also told that the nursing school receives our transcripts TWO WEEKS after the school receives them, meaning I’m left waiting even longer just to see if my degree plan is updated. And it’s not even updated yet. I’m wasting so much time waiting on UTA that I couldn’t even start this semester or register because I don’t know what I’m missing, what transferred, or what I still need to complete.

I’m trying to apply for Fall 2027, so you would think there would be some urgency in helping transfer students understand exactly where they stand academically. Instead, I’m constantly having to track people down and figure things out on my own.

And to make matters worse, it took an entire MONTH for me to receive my acceptance into the actual school. I had to call multiple times before someone finally sent me something confirming my acceptance.

Trying to navigate this process as an external student has been an absolute nightmare. There is a huge difference between being a transfer student and being an in house student, and it’s frustrating because it feels like the system is designed around the students who are already there rather than those of us trying to transfer in.

Mad that I don’t “feel any better”

I had a laparoscopic myomectomy about five weeks ago, and I’m still experiencing sharp pelvic pain, stiffness, and a lot of fatigue. My recovery has been much slower than I expected.

A little background: my surgery ended up being much more complicated than originally planned. I had 20 fibroids removed, including one that was twisted into my rectal area. They also found and removed a large cyst on my bladder and an endometrioma (endometrial cyst) on my ovary. What was supposed to be a 2-hour procedure turned into an 8-hour surgery.

Since then, I’ve been healing slowly. I’m currently in pelvic floor therapy, and it has helped some, but I’m still dealing with pain and stiffness every day. I guess I’m just feeling discouraged because I thought I’d be feeling so much better by now after everything I’ve been through. It’s hard not to be disappointed when I’m still struggling this far into recovery.

Partnered Applicants

I’m planning to apply for the AOBSRN fall 2027 and I’m partnered. Right now, I’m waiting for my academic advisor to calculate my total points.
I already have a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration. I only have one C in my science prerequisites (Chemistry); all of my other grades are A’s and B’s. I’m also willing to take Pathophysiology to earn a few additional points if needed.
For those who were accepted and partnered, what was your point total when you were accepted?
