Is it bad to use a composite bat in game without breaking it in first?

I don't have time to properly break in the bat. Is it bad for the bat to just use it in a game?

Axe Bats

What is everyone's opinion on axe bats? I feel like because you're only supposed to hit on one side it is inferior but I have also seen rave reviews. What is everyone's thoughts?
