I first read Ice a few years ago, and it's still one of the most memorable novels I've come across. Despite having been published later in Anna Kavan's career, the first edition had a modest print run since she had had little commercial success up to that point. It was only after her death that Ice gained critical attention, and an American edition appeared in 1970.
I don't usually buy this type of material, but I wanted to add this to my collection since it's a book I think about often. Plus, my friends over at Laureate Fine Books sold this to me at a good price.
I just wanted to share with this community that the Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair is coming to the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland this year on August 14th and 15th. For the past few years, it has been in Castle Rock, so this might be a good year for those in the Loveland area to come and check it out. You can find more details about the fair here. You can find a list of exhibitors here along with the type of material they specialize in.
This is my fifth year going, and it's always a good time. There's material at various price points, including stuff that's a couple dollars all the way up to five-figure stuff. Many dealers will allow you to flip through the more expensive books, too, even if you have no intention of buying it.
Hope some of you can make it!
