NKD... WorkChamp XL, it's a big fella!

My curiosity got the better of me with this one and it proves that sometimes being a big SAK can work in its favour.

Obviously I think this was meant as a showcase tool like the SwissChamp XXL but I can't say it is impractical in use because it actually feels good in the hand (just not in the pocket edc), however, there are a few tools which I will probably never use on this and I could argue that they are just lightweight 'bloat' but that brings me back to the word 'showcase' even though it has two awls as back tools🤷.

So I could put this in my collection box as a curiosity only but like my Wine Master and Cheese Knife that have kitchen drawer designation, the WorkChamp XL is going in my tool tote with the rest of my DIY quick grab cos it brutally deserves it and it was given polyamide scales for a reason😄

BTW the size comparison pic is of the two biggest 91mm SAKs I have, the Cybertool L and the SwissChamp XXL along with the WorkChamp XL. The Cybertool L lives in my pocket everyday.

NKD...The Skipper Pro

A few days ago I received the Skipper W, which peaked my interest in the pro version of the tool... Similar namesake but very different in toolset build.

So with the Pro version, it's quite minimalist, the main blade and marlin spike are of a different calibre altogether and suggest larger rope tasks. But this means there isn't much space for many other tools unlike the Skipper W.

You can still understand why Victorinox produced both 111mm variants though, one for a more general seafaring use where you approach a job with a plan and the other as a minimalist, slicing machine when you only have one hand spare and need a quick cut, emergency companion with extras like a toothpick and tweezers 😄

NKD...Red Standard Handyman to Blue Plus Handyman

Received this a few days ago but was waiting for a set of blue plus scales, well they arrived today and the handyman hadn't even opened a tool and the new scales were on with two new tools in the bag! Usually I EDC the Cybertool L but the Handyman has always felt like a miss in my collection having a great toolset so I thought I would make it stand out that bit more in blue with a plus.

I feel something is still missing though so may be a paracord lanyard or even a SwissKarry clip is in its future also.

NKD...A Bantam Alox and The Skipper W

Measuring in at a very slim 84mm and a monstrous 111mm, the Bantam drops into the collection easily, the Skipper W on the other hand is a very interesting tool and does stuff in a way I haven't come across yet having a double ended liner lock for the wavy main blade and 7mm screwdriver/bottle opener, also a very discrete inline philips that tucks beneath the pliers. Obviously the fact it has a marlin spike/shackle opener sings seafarer tool.

The navy camo scales are also a nice touch and look even better in the flesh.

I wasn't sure what to do with the supplied paracord length so I made a basic (first time ever I'll have you know) snake knot lanyard which actually wasn't that difficult to do.

NKD The Cigar Cutter with its highly specialised tool and NIB

I used to be partial to a nice cigar back 15 to 20 years. This would have been very useful to me back then but no more. I now have a different habit and this deserves its spot in my collection, 74mm smooth Alox beauty of a SAK...hey you never know, it may be required for a trip to the Dominican in the future😉

Oldish NKD

A couple of curiosities received today, a 91mm Scientist NIB (with very minor scale scratches) and an 84mm RadioShack Electrician, both are in really nice condition though with good snap on the tools.

On a side note, I didn't realise the Scientist could actually come with plus scales with the pin hole missing 🤷

NKD, the size difference is a little noticeable!

Just arrived today...the Midnite Manager and the absolutely stunning Wine Master in walnut and what a thing of beauty it is. So the Manager has been completely upstaged by the Master at this point, I literally gasped as I opened the box. Not your everyday pocket knife, that main blade is so beautiful and with its button operated liner lock and leather case, quite unique to my collection even though it will live in my kitchen man drawer.

The Manager I purchased on a whim as I have a thing for the lite models, alcohol was involved 😂

Used NKD... Lumberjack and Tinker Small

Just received this morning, the Elinox Lumberjack and a Tinker Small. Why Victorinox are reducing the production variance of the 84mm form factor is a complete mystery to me!

My SAK archive keeps growing and I should never have looked at a list of 84mm Victorinox cos I have now been bitten by the 84mm bug. Even though I never leave the house without my Cybertool L as a heavy 'user', the small but mighty 84mm victorinox have gained an ever niggling want and fascination in me to own more...I know what you're saying..."just another collector" and damn you would be right, I didn't even see this coming but every time I look at my 'collection' it makes me smile and my wife just shakes her head!😆

I have been pondering over Cheese Master for a while, price reduction and it's in the bag. She's a bit of a different animal this one compared to my 91mm and under SAKs and being from the UK, typically not street legal here due to the liner lock and blade length but I digress.

I like different though and the tool set doesn't disappoint, victorinox produces so many variants with slight differences in standard tools and then...this! A niche and specialised solid chunk of steel , it's a breath of fresh air...in fact I may have to start looking at the other 111mm variants more as they seem to have a lot of niche in their lineage.

I am curious whether, if you own one, have you actually used it for the intended job it was made for?
