Discord chat group suggested to watch Grave of the Fireflies. I never got past that specific early scene.

It's the one when the train janitor tosses the candy tin and then Setsuko's phantom appears sorrounded by the fireflies. If someone ever tries to make me cry it's that scene.

Watched the masterpiece back then nearly a decade ago after my highschool freshman years. This movie was a turning point for me because I have two sisters an older one who was/is very much self relying then and a younger sister who I was so mean and almost violent to during my early middle school days she was about to get into grade school so almost same age as Setsuko. After I watched the movie I thought most of the time "those siblings could've been us".

I stopped being mean to her but still feeling indifferent when she got to grade school (before I watched the movie) but out of shyness and guilt I couldn't show her a big brother affection because somehow I felt "unmanly" even now that we're mature I don't have that Conan O'Brien type of relationship and all I could do was assist and occasionally give her gifts or voluntarily accompany her whenever she goes out.
