Panfish/Crappie Setup for an 8-year-old

Hi everybody. I want a spinning rod-and-reel combo for my 8-year-old to fish for panfish, mainly bluegill and crappie. Do you have any recommendations? Ideally, it should be fun, relatively easy to use, and reliable without breaking the bank. And it should not look like a toy for very small kids. I'd also appreciate any guidance on choosing between light and ultralight rods.

Many thanks in advance!

Braided Line: High-vis yellow or low-vis green?

I’m a new angler who targets mainly bass from the banks of Ohio lakes, ponds, and rivers. I’ve recently switched to braided mainline, as many experienced anglers argue that its higher casting distance and sensitivity to bites are important advantages. After some initial distress, I’ve even learned to tie a decent Alberto knot for my leader line.

Now a different question occupies my mind. I picked low-vis green, but should I have picked the high-vis yellow? What do you think are the pros and cons of each? More importantly, how exactly do you take advantage of those pros and compensate for any disadvantages?
