Train ticket query TrainPal

Morning all

Not used the trains for years so need some guidance

I'm off to London on Monday with my daughter for the day, I used the TrainPal app to book our tickets as it offered a cheaper ticket than trainline which gives us more time in the city.

I collected the tickets this morning from my local station machine and it's issued me 2 off peak family travelcard tickets.

At no point did I select I had a travelcard and I've just gone back through the steps to book again to see if I messed up but no railcards were added at any point and the same times and prices came up again.

So please put my mind at ease, will these tickets get us to and from London (always used to get 2 sets of tickets, out and in printed)

Am I going to be asked to show a railcard or have I got a travelcard confused with railcard?

It says London zones 1-6, does that mean I can use it on the underground as well?

Thank you

Civil service pension

Hi all, I'm working in the prison service and have 22 years service now, I'm 42 and today it occurred to me I've got less years to serve than I have completed if I retire at 60 which is something I would quite like.

I've not got a clue how pensions work etc and have never really worried about them before.

I have a plan where each year I am going to add 10 a month from my pay rises, in the early years this will obviously not make a difference but from years 10 onwards it will be an extra £1200 a year minimum.

So for those of you that are clued up, will this make a difference to my overall pension or am I better off doing something else?

Thank you

Cricket bat advice

Hi all, I've got a cricket bat from work and need some advice, as you can see from the photos it doesn't look like it's ever been knocked in or even seen any linseed oil, there's no major cracks or chunks missing but is it worth restoring it, i don't know anything about it but I assume it's an entry level bat?

Is it worth sanding it right back and starting new with it or is it better off as firewood?
