Smoked Sablefish (Black Cod)

Smoked Sablefish (Black Cod)

I get these in 600-800' of water off the Oregon Coast. Extremely oily, which you can see on some of the pieces in the photo.

I do a roughly 1 day dry brine of kosher salt, brown sugar and Hungarian Paprika. I smoked this batch on pecan wood. The salt pulls a lot of the moisture out, which is very necessary with this fish. I actually have started doing some sort of brine prior to cooking it via any method since it helps with the texture so much. Incredible fish, smoked or not, just benefits from removing some moisture.

First offshore trip of 2026

First trip to the tuna grounds this season. Got 26 by 11am then hit some deep water drops for 4 nice sablefish on the way in. Good haul to kick things off 🥳

Now we wait for the stupid wind machine to stop.

[Oregon, USA] 11.5M / 13W Supercomp Trainer V1, Vomero Plus Freestyle Doernbecher, Triumph 23

Too much redundancy in my too big "rotation."

Prices with shipping included to lower 48 states

All are men's 11.5 (Womens 13)

Nike Vomero Plus Freestyle - Doernbecher "Molly:" 14mi total on them. Honestly love these and bought them because the story and design is just so great. But not being a collector, they don't do me much good sitting on the rack. Amazing shoe and amazing design, it just never found its way into my rotation. Sold as a "Womens" shoe, and the sizing printed inside reflects that, but they are a Men's 11.5 equivalent and fit me exactly the same as the ones sold as Men's 11.5. $120 shipped

SOLD: Saucony Triumph 23: 7mi total on them. $60 shipped

SOLD: New Balance Supercomp Trainer V1: Literally never even put them on my feet. Completely brand new. $40 shipped

This is more a call for feedback and to share - not trying to self-promote. Lots of hours poured into this. Thought some tyers here would enjoy it. As far as I know, nothing quite like it online anywhere - I've seen similar attempts, but not as comprehensive.

I was inspired by more niche "social media" apps like Strava and used that as kind of my muse to make a place tyers can share their creations.

Open to any and all feedback - mods, I hope I'm not breaking the rules. Not exactly selling anything, so hopefully it passes the sniff test. Maybe having been the mod on r/flyfishing like 15yrs ago can get me some points, haha.
