Why do the Columbia tributaries like Gnat and Big creeks not show up in the ODFW fishing report anymore?
I seen this guy using two rods trolling with what seems like one person in the boat. Pretty sure it is illegal or against rules and regs. Want to clarify. This was chinook landing 8/16 if this is you explain yourself.
That’s it. Just a PSA for no reason.

I’m turning 45 in January and I’d like to book a fly fishing guide for my birthday. Could be for trout, steelhead or salmon in Oregon or Washington. Where would you go and who would you hire?
Hey everyone. I was wondering if Harriet lake is currently accessible from estacada or if I would have to come down the road from Timothy lake. Thanks!
Hey,
I have recently been fishing the PNW here by myself after taking about a 20 year break from fishing. Been on plenty of guided trips in that time but nothing like going out yourself. I have been traveling recently and wanting to find some salmon from the shore, and was looking for recommendations. I was recently at the siuslaw jetty this past weekend, had a nice time but nothing besides crab. I was thinking about driving to Winchester bay, to try that jetty for some chinook on the umpqua. Any ideas? I live close to Eugene and am not shy of driving a few hours to practice casting. I appreciate anyone willing to share, thanks again.
i will be driving up the oregon coast the 2nd week of September. i will only have enough time to stop and fish a couple beaches along the trip. if you could only fish 2 or 3 spots along the oregon coast where would you stop and why? I will have my dogs with me so jetties might not be an option. any bays worth fishing?
Im also wondering why leapord shark fishing isn't a thing in Oregon like it is in Cali? I know there's much less in oregon but im surprised to find nothing online on shark fishing in Oregon. is there any small sharks, rays, or bigger fish you can bait and wait for on the oregon coast?
Thanks

After doing a week worth of scouting on the coastal streams, I’ll now be referring to the Trask as the ‘Trash’ River. So much litter at literally Every. Single. Pullout. Gross! Do better Oregon! Do better Tillamook State Forest! Do better ODOT! Do SOMEthing. Embarrassing.
Hope I'm all good to post this here.
I know a lot of you guys like to smoke your catch. It's basically a part of PNW heritage!
If so, check out r/smokingfish , a sub I created last week dedicated to the art of smoking trout, salmon and everything else that swims.
Anyways, here's some smoked salmon I made last weekend. Here's the link to the recipe: https://www.reddit.com/r/smokingfish/s/N055SCmq3n
At the coast for a couple days and the perch bite has been nonexistent for me. But I love the fact that there is free seafood on every rock pile and tide pool :)
PS- anyone finding ripe huckleberries yet? The last I checked a couple weeks ago nothing was really ripe yet.
Heyo!
I am looking to get my dad onto some searun cuttys as he has been talking about it for awhile. I have had great luck before on the Miami and Yachats, but those are little further than we have time for. We have some access to the lower Nestucca, and the salmon/steelhead crowds have cleared out down there by now. Anyone have any luck there for the ole blue backs? Or can recommend anywhere else between Newport and Tillamook areas? Much appreciated in advance!
I started fishing in August last year, mostly off popular piers. I spent the first few months confused about basically everything. I didn't know what rig to tie, I couldn't tell which fishing spots were good for which fish, and I couldn't read a tide chart well enough to know if I was showing up at the right time.
So I made a website for it: usekarp.com
You can find spots near you, compare them side by side, and get gear and bait suggestions for whatever you're targeting.
Check it out if you're getting into fishing
I am opening a fly fishing guide business next year, and I want to begin by offering free guided trips.
What I’m looking for:
Clients (of all abilities) who are interested in free guide services on the Deschutes. If you’ve ever been on a guided trip before, that’s even better. My only ask is that after the trip, you give me detailed, honest and direct feedback on my services.
What I’m offering:
Day trips and (eventually overnight) trips on the Lower Deschutes, mostly out of Maupin. I have a drift boat or a raft, and will coordinate all the details.
Dry fly for rainbows this year, preparing for the hatch next year. I would also offer steelhead guided trips next year.
I can take one or two anglers. All you need is your waders, boots and rods. If you need gear, I can assist in some.
If you’re interested in a free guided trip, DM me. I don’t have dates lined up yet, but will be flexible.
🤙🏼
BPA is ending their contributions to a salmon-enhancement program called SAFE. The utility contributes $1.4 million annually out of the total $2.4 million annual budget of the fund. They will stop contributions at the end of September and other organizations that are part of SAFE, such as ODFW and Clatsop County, are not sure how they are going to maintain the program.
Going to the coast for a week and am hopeful any of you have tips or advice for me.

COOS BAY

Are all the locations I’ll be at. I’ve been doing a fair amount of research as I’ve never fished on the shore before. Bringing my clamming equipment and crabbing trap as well. If you’re local and can share any advice I would appreciate it thanks!!
Long shot...but I lost an olive green Orvis sling pack on the Deschutes last week somewhere below Buckhollow. It has a couple fly boxes and an assortment of leader/tippet - if you happen to find it, please let me know!
