surf fishing the Oregon coast

i will be driving up the oregon coast the 2nd week of September. i will only have enough time to stop and fish a couple beaches along the trip. if you could only fish 2 or 3 spots along the oregon coast where would you stop and why? I will have my dogs with me so jetties might not be an option. any bays worth fishing?

Im also wondering why leapord shark fishing isn't a thing in Oregon like it is in Cali? I know there's much less in oregon but im surprised to find nothing online on shark fishing in Oregon. is there any small sharks, rays, or bigger fish you can bait and wait for on the oregon coast?

Thanks

Fishing Stripers and Leapord Shakrs San Fransisco

I will be fishing SF area in early September im thinking of 1 day at ocean beach and another at crissy fields. i will be targeting stripers and leapord sharks. i have a ML rod i will be using for lures/swimbaits ect and have a heavy rod set up for sharks. i have carolina rigs pre tied with 7/0 circle hooks some with 80lb mono some with wire leader.

what i wnat to know is if stripers will bite bait on 80lb mono? I would like to bait and wait with the heavy rod for Leapord and stripers at the same time using the same rig.(80lb mono with 7/0) is that too heavy? is there any middle ground i can fish for both with the same rig or am I better off just using the wire leaders for sharks and sticking with the smaller rod for lures for stripers? thx

Surf fishing San Diego with the hazardous water quality

I've been hearing alot about the sewage in the water along san diego beaches. Is it ok to fish in these areas? im assuming people aren't keeping catches with all the bacteria in the water?

5th gen sleeping platform DIY

over the weekend i made this sleeping platform set up for my 5th gen 4runner. I got the idea from a yotube video but made several adjustments for how I want it. its 3/4" plywood with thin outdoor/indoor carpet wrapped around it. steel pipe legs with multicolor lights underneath. tied down by bungee cables to keep it stable when off roading. its made up of 3 pieces so that either seat can be put back in and still have room for 1 to sleep or both back sets in with a cargo table in the back. im thinking of adding a slide out tray with foldable legs to have a platform to cook on outside tbe vehicle as well. ive never built anythubg before so im very pleased with how it turned out.

Fishing crowded beach etiquette

I am from Arizona and drive out to San Diego to surf fish 2 weekends a year so im not the most experienced. I made the mistake of coming out on a holiday weekend and the beaches were packed. I went to Mission becah and found a spot to fish in between swimmers. I had a guy stop me on my way to the water and say his kids are swimming so I will have to find another spot to fish. I respectfully told him that I understand where he is coming from and that I won't cast anywhere near his kids and that im in full control of my lure at all times. he tells me that if I decide to fish here that it will end badly for me and gives me a hard pat on the shoulder. I shoved him and told him dont touch me or threaten me and he drops his tough guy act and sits back down. I let it go and fish for about 20 minutes and as it gets more crowded decide to leave. on my way out I hear another woman say he better keep that shit away from my kids.

am I wrong for trying to fish a crowded beach? how do you handle these situations with fishing karens and crowded beaches? do you avoid these beaches all together during these times? thanks

Heavy Rod stiffness and casting

I am using a 12ft heavy Penn Sqaudron surf rod for bait and wait fishing for targeting leapord sharks in socal surf. its rated for up to 8 oz lures. I have noticed that casting with 8 oz and 6 oz weights is having some trouble loading the rod for a good cast. the casting distance is decent but it just feels so stiff like its not loading properly and feels like I should be able to cast alot farter. I am also not getting any indication of bites with guitarfish I dont even know i have them on until I reel in my bait. I haven't hooked into a leapord shark yet but I am wondering if I am better off getting a medium heavy rod that is a bit less stiff even though I cant find any rated up to 8 oz. I am new to surf fishing so I wanted to get some advice from people with some experience.
