any cancer survivors who went on to med school afterwards in this community?

Hi. I was planning to apply this cycle but it turns out that I have cHL so I have decided to wait another year. On paper, my odds are good so I’m still planning on applying once I’ve completed treatment.

I just wanted to know if there are any cancer survivors in this subreddit. I can’t say that my cancer diagnosis is the sole reason why I want to become a physician (the interest was there far before my cells decided to die and divide uncontrollably) but it has definitely shown me that this is the path that I want to take; it’s also shifted my interest in specialties. I just want to hear from other people who perhaps may have had a similar experience to me.

I am worried that ADCOMs will look at my application next year and decline me because of the risk of disease relapse or concerns over chemo ruining my brain.
