Got into university at 40!

I got into a Master’ programme at a Russell Group university at 40! 🎉 My first ever depressive episode made the whole application process so much harder, and somehow seems to have enrolled with me too.
I’m still too emotionally exhausted to fully celebrate- be happy for me until I can properly feel it myself! :)

Is this normal low effort or should I just move on?

I (40F) have been chatting with a guy (39M) for about a week. The beginning was fun - good banter, flirty, he seemed really interested. We talked about meeting when I come to his city in a while. But by Friday the energy changed. He wrote he would be out a lot the weekend and unavailable for a chat, though his plans would only involve drinking with friends and some family visit. So he offered to catch up earlier next week.

I get that people have lives, but it feels like low effort for me. I was excited about him and even started planning my trip partly around the possibility of meeting. Now I have this unpleasant aftertaste.

Am I overreacting? Or is this a clear sign that his interest is mediocre at best and I should just let it fade?

With the new Renter’s Rights Act, from May 2026 landlords can’t take more than 1 month rent in advance. What’s the way for an international postgrad student to find an accommodation (a private one), if they don’t have any UK credit history, no UK-based guarantor, no sponsor, no UK work record? I only have money available to pay upfront. Thanks!
