Does Runna still auto-adjust if I sync from my watch instead of tracking in-app?

Hey everyone,

I just started using Runna and am currently following one of the new runner programs. Because my phone's onboard GPS is incredibly inaccurate and drops connection constantly, I've decided not to use the actual Runna app to record my runs live.

Instead, I’m tracking everything directly on my Pixel Watch, which automatically shares and syncs the completed sessions over to Runna as soon as I'm done.

My question is: Does Runna's algorithm still "see" these imported workouts and automatically adjust my future weeks/pacing targets based on my progress? Or does the auto-regulation feature only work if you record the session natively inside the phone app?

Appreciate any insights from anyone else using a watch-only setup!

Am I Being Too Conservative with Zone 2 Training for My First Marathon?

I'm currently in Week 7 of training for my first marathon, which is coming up in October 2026. I'm 47 years old and following a structured Runna training plan that has me running four days per week, which includes a long run every Sunday.

I've been taking Zone 2 training pretty seriously. I even went to DexaFit to get lab-tested numbers so I could train using actual physiological data instead of estimates. According to my results, my Zone 2 range is 91-126 bpm, my VT1 is 102 bpm, and my VT2 is 141 bpm.

Last week, my long run was 10 miles. My heart rate stayed below 125 bpm for the first 2.5 miles, then gradually climbed throughout the run (I purposefully increased my HR through pace to meet my targeted zones):

  • Miles 2.5-4.5: 125-130 bpm
  • Miles 4.5-6.5: 130-136 bpm
  • Miles 6.5-8.5: 136-139 bpm
  • Final 1.5 miles: back down between 101-125 bpm

My overall pace was 14:48/mile. When I finished, I felt good. If I had needed to run another mile or two, I definitely could have.

Like a lot of people, I find Zone 2 training mentally frustrating at times because it feels like I'm holding back. Growing up with the "no pain, no gain" mindset, it's hard not to wonder whether running this slowly is really the most efficient use of my training time, but I'm trusting the process.

A 14:48 pace also means my long runs take forever. The marathon I'm training for has a 6-hour cutoff, which works out to about a 13:44/mile pace. My primary goal is simply to finish and avoid getting swept off the course.

Based on where I am now, does that seem like a realistic goal? Has anyone else started out with similar Zone 2 paces and successfully worked their way to marathon pace over the course of a training cycle?

Night stand mode broken after 17 upgrade

One of my favorite features was setting my Pixel 10 Pro XL on my Belkin wireless charging stand, pressing the lock button, and having it transition into a massive, dim digital clock screensaver.

Since updating to Android 17, this feature seems completely broken or stripped out. Instead of launching the full-screen clock, the phone just sits persistently in standard Always-On Display (AOD) mode with the tiny corner clock. Is anyone else experiencing this with third-party docks, or did Google restrict the full-screen desk clock entirely to the first-party Pixel Stand?

Recalculate plan based on new zone numbers

I performed a VO2 max test today and I entered the new numbers into Runna. Is there a way to have Runna recalculate my plan so pace can reflect the new zone numbers?

Polar H10 chest strap connection to Pixel Watch4

Has anyone had any success connecting the Polar H10 chest strap to the Pixel Watch 4? I’m able to pair it via Bluetooth, but after it connects, it shows up as unavailable. I’ve tried a bunch of things and can’t seem to figure it out. Has anyone out there had any success?
