Gen Z Ageism in Workplace

I wanted to create a post as I have noticed at my work the rampant ageism on Gen Z and was curious if people have had similar experiences with their work.

I am in the tech industry and have heard people casually mention “X is only 23 and our most qualified engineer which concerns me since he is 23” or “ Gen-Z is so lazy and can’t do anything”. I think the most frustrating is how normalized it is and how frequent I hear things like this in group meetings. In addition I often find others constantly second guessing my judgement.

I did not encounter this problem much until more recent but feel like it got worse since the videos making fun of Millenials or other generations etc. Most annoying is if I said half of what they said about Gen Z about Millenials or Gen X or people over 30 I would 1000% be sent to HR.

I understand only people over 40 are protected by ageism. But has anyone else have similar issues at work such as constant second guessing or just people openly complaining about Gen Z.
