Any Zone 2 walkers on here? Some questions
Aloha guys I'm a 54 year old man, 6 feet tall and 205 pounds. Been on a weight loss/wellness push for the last couple months with an eye to being back in shape for my 55th birthday on Christmas. I've gotten back into tennis and have been playing for an hour or two a few days a week. Most mornings I also get out of bed and immediately do a moderately fast (around 3.7mph) walk near my house for about 45 minutes.
On days where I don't play tennis, I try to get on the treadmill to get my heart rate up into zone 2 because my morning walk doesn't get me anywhere near that level.
Right now I do eight minutes increments for 4 rounds on a 10 degree incline (my treadmill's steepest setting). I divide each round into 6 minutes at 4mph and 2 minutes at 3mph to get my breath back. I sweat profusely in my hot garage and the 6 minutes at 4mph definitely gets my heart rate into zone 2 and maybe a bit higher.
Sometimes it feels like I'm doing too much on my treadmill and not enough on my morning walks LOL. Anyone with advice on how I could fine tune my routine?
