What if people who died tragically or violently became ghosts, but instead of being able to haunt people after they died, instead they started traveling backwards in time, only able to haunt before the day they died?

Like those ghost stories where the ghosts are dressed in Victorian clothes are actually from a distant future when those clothes are back in fashion.
