Are police expected to report crimes they witness off duty?
What kind of punishments might you get if you're caught not reporting it?
Not colluding, just not reporting it. Like, say, you witness a guy steal a car and you just walk by and decide not to report it, even when you're home safe and can expect no retaliation.
Official punishments? Snubbing? A talking to from a supervisor?
I'd expect it to differ from state to state and municipality to municipality, so as many answers as possible would be great.
