Should I read Herringbone
I’m deep in Hannibal obsession and I’ve been devouring fics like nobody’s business. I even got like, 65 chapters into Paragon before I couldn’t take it anymore (there’s only so many times one can read the same sex descriptions over and over before it gets grating. If I ever see the phrase ‘reactionary tears’ again it’ll be too soon) which I think I deserve a god damn Purple Heart for. Anyway, I’ve been looking for a long-ish to long, IN CHARACTER, exploration of their relationship type fic that i can get fully immersed in and stay until the end. That said, i’m a little scared of Herringbone bc 1. Length and 2. The capacity for sheer emotional devastation. Is it worth it? Does it hurt just enough without being torturous? Do they eventually fuck crazy style? (I mean, I’m here for the drama but I’m also just a girl. What do u want from me.)
For reference on what I like, I love everything everything Emungere wrote (especially blackbird, god I wish it were longer). I liked the obsessive tinge of Paragon and the exploration of will’s monster, so to speak, until the sex was too gratuitous. I just stopped reading Pattern Break mid way because once the tension resolved it lost its charm. I can’t bear to finish The Shape of Me Will Always be You even though I loved it because I can’t tell if it’s gonna be a happy ending or not (lol). So……herringbone? Yes or no?
