Query about downloading apps

I’m interested in getting the MiPaper as an e-reader and so I need access to the PlayStore to download a library app and the bookshop.org app so I can purchase ebooks via indie bookstores but I’m concerned that I won’t be able to. How successfully have people been in downloading apps for reading purposes?
