Currently a rising senior and seeing all these kids ECS and stats who are also applying is just making me so nervous. I come from a pretty competitive area and I know my chances for these bsmd are so slim. It’s legit a crapshoot for me rn, praying that any of them would consider me as a good fit. I know I worked really hard these fours years for these programs but I just nervous that if I didn’t get it it’ll be all for nothing.

I need advice on something that is pretty important. For some context, the way my school is setup is that a highschool grade is separated into 3 parts. A CS group, Health group, and normal group. I am in the Health group. When it comes to credits and enrollment, our school focuses mainly on DE courses instead of APs and IBs. Because of this, the setup for a CS group will be them receiving an associate degree by the end of graduation. THIS IS PROVIDED to them, with the classes they are taking being equalivent to a CS associate degree from our local CC college.
The Health group, which I am in, also can get an associate degree. But instead of being setup in their classes, a health student needs to take some additional CC courses on their own to get their own associate degree. I have seen on this subreddit that these associate degrees are frowned upon, and can hinder admissions.
The only issue with this is that I am currently valedictorian. I have worked INCREDIBLELY hard to be val and was working on this for so long. In addition, the ONLY way I can maintain my val status is IF I complete my associate degree in Allied Health. Essentially meaning I need to go out of my way to finished some CC courses and get my degree. I have 3 classes remaining until my degree is fulfilled.
I truly want to get into a BS/MD but I also REALLY want to be val. IDK what should I do? I am also a NJ resident and really really want to get in NJMS BS/MD, so what does this mean?
