PSA: The clock is ticking for the remaining Orion V units. If you haven't yet, take your chance to ride them as soon as you possibly can.

Another Orion V unit, particularly 9280, has fallen off the grid. As of early May 2026, 7 out of 9 units remain in active service.

If you want the best chance at riding one of these classic units, pick a day that's a NON-holiday weekday and go for routes 352, 354, 601, 602, 603, 604, 606 or 608.

Do note that 601 is the only all-day route you can see them running on.

>Ride these units while you still can, a full retirement is inevitably going to happen at some point.

^(Personal side note:)

^(Some of these units have had underlying issues for a long time which would result them in being primarily assigned to trippers, with very few exceptions. Once the CVI expires for these problematic units, it is very unlikely they'll be renewed, let alone continue revenue service.)

About the thunderstorms we are hearing...

***Disclaimer: I HAVE HEARD EVEN MORE INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS BEFORE, PARTICULARLY IN SOME ASIAN COUNTRIES. THE SCOPE OF THIS POST IS FOCUSED PURELY ON THE THUNDERSTORMS IN RICHMOND, BC.***

Having moved back to Richmond full-time since almost three years ago, this HAS to be the longest and most consistent thunderstorm I've been hearing for the first time in years for this area in metro Vancouver.

I don't recall hearing thunderstorms last this long, if I did at all up until now. Weird eh
