Chinese restaurant while visiting…

I live in Victoria… and yes, we have ZERO Chinese restaurants that would impress anyone in Vancouver…
I’m looking for some memorable adventures in Chinese cuisine while spending the day in Richmond.
For a reference point - I’m a middle aged white dude who enjoys South Asian cuisine, Punjabi spices with a scoville threshold of several hundred thousand. Not afraid of spice!
Thank you in advance.

Why no BC fruit in Richmond grocery chain stores?

I've noticed recently that none of the major grocery chain stores in Richmond seem to be offering BC-grown fruit this year - it's all from the USA, or occasionally from further away like New Zealand - and it's pretty expensive. I checked Superstore, Walmart, Freshco, and Save-On. No BC-grown fruit as I would normally expect to be plentiful this time of year, as it has been in previous years. At first I though it might be supply chain disruption from the fires, but in smaller local stores and farm markets here in Richmond there is plenty of BC-grown fruit, and its cheaper too. What's up with that?

Aug 18 #6 Road Incident

There were multiple RCMP vehicles surrounding a farmhouse near No. 6 Road and Blundell. The farmhouse is hosting multiple foreign workers. Wondering whether a violent dispute took place there last night that required a large amount of police force.

Intersections don't have invisible stop signs, my fine dude

I see this all the time, nowhere more pronounced than Steveston Village. Note in Pic 1 the intersection at Moncton and First. If you're going East-West there is no stop sign. If you go North, there's a stop sign. Pic 2: dude in black car rolls up, has right of way and...stops. And looks confused as F. He starts and stops a couple of times. Bro in the white vehicle is just patiently waiting for the black car to clear the intersection so he can cross. I'm just standing there with my mouth open (and phone out). Finally the car going east just glides through the intersection and black car guy realizes he's a dolt (or...maybe not) and goes through.

Does anyone know what is happening or will happen to the second floor? I remember discussion of it being turned into a food court but doesn’t seem likely

How long is too long? 27 hours and counting: Massive Fibre Cut in Richmond, BC, affecting thousands, no fix in sight

How long is too long to wait for an outage to be repaired before an automatic credit is applied?

Rogers: You have the data. You know who's offline and for how long. Why should thousands of individual customers have to call and ask for compensation?

Automatically credit everyone affected.

While crews are working diligently to repair the damage, why hasn't management built enough redundancy into the network to prevent a fibre cut from taking thousands offline for this long?

Rogers is so quick to apply penalties when customers cancel early or make a late payment. What's a fair penalty when telecom service is down for extended periods?

2X after 12 hours?

3X after 24 hours?

5X after 48 hours?

Do you know who likes hearing about ideas like this? Your MP:

Rogers/Shaw Update?

Rogers had an outage affecting multiple parts of Richmond yesterday citing “Service Interruption | Some customers between Bridgeport Road and Westminster Highway and surrounding areas”.

Outages have now been over 24 hours.

App says “Cause: Fibre Cut caused by vandalism”.

Does anyone have any updates? I tried contacting Rogers and was told technicians are on site and that members would be notified when fixed. Wondering why it would take over 24 hours to fix and how much longer it may be!

Ironwood area lane closures

So what kind of stupidity is occurring here that requires a lane on both Eastbound and Westbound directions to be closed so it causes a huge traffic jam during the afternoon rush hour?

Video store in Steveston

Does anyone remember the name of the video rental store in Steveston? It’s now a pizza restaurant. They had a killer selection of old school wrestling tapes. They are open super late.

Frequent Power Outages No. 5 & Cambie Area ; Since New Townhouses Were Built

I live near No. 5 Road and Cambie area, and the frequent power outages have become incredibly frustrating.

We never used to experience power outages like this before, but over the past couple of years, since the new townhouse developments were built in the area (before Super Save Gas), it feels like the outages have become much more frequent.

I’m concerned that the electrical infrastructure and power grid may not have been properly planned or upgraded to accommodate the additional development and increased demand.

I’ve already emailed the City of Richmond, the Mayor of Richmond, and Steve Kooner to raise my concerns and ask for answers.

If you live in the area and are also frustrated by the constant outages, please consider emailing them as well and making your concerns known. The more residents who speak up, the harder it is for this issue to be ignored.

We shouldn’t just have to accept repeated outages without getting an explanation as to why they are happening and what is being done to prevent them.
