The Direction I Personally Think Konami is Creating for its Future Users
An important thought has just dawned upon me. Konami's major update recently allows fluid gameplay, and introduced new defensive playstyles. Currently my build ups feel worse than my destroyers because the "build up" playstyle is mainly when you have offensive possession of the ball. Otherwise, when you are defending, the likes of showtime VVD feel unresponsive and take ages to clear a ball even... UNLESS you have that new highline-master defensive style! or an extremely fast build up like Varane.
Have you noticed that in fluid gameplay there's an offensive formation and a defensive formation, BUT the only current link-ups allowed are in the offensive formation? This is the key point, I am suspecting that Konami will eventually introduce a manager that allows a defensive formation link up which requires those new defensive styles: highline-master, destroyer, all-action defender, covering role. The only "salvaged" roles from last season are B2B, Anchorman, and destroyers. They will probably introduce this new gimmick to force players to obtain those new CBs/DFBs/DMFs to secure their defensive formation and make fluid gameplay turned on as meta. By then, the current "soft reset" will feel like a full reset.
As an after thought, maybe POTWs from now on will be valuable mainly to test defensive playstyles up front and in defense.
