What’s the healthy thing to do when you are desperately craving external validation?

Genuine question. I’m sorry, I feel like I’m not very emotionally or socially well adjusted (in a very mundane way). People often say to work on yourself or get therapy, but my current therapy experience feels like I’m just telling someone about my issues and they’re being sympathetic. I know it’s NOT healthy or kind to want to text everyone I know various messages asking for reassurance or validation. What are you supposed to do that’s healthy or builds better habits? I just feel awful about myself and like all I want to do is hide from everyone else. Am I just supposed to write out the feelings until they go away? Or distract myself? Will that eventually lead to a ‘healthier me’ who has these compulsions less often?
