Help with designing a MCM living room?

Hi all! I hope this is okay to post.

My husband and I recently bought a house and we're excited to decorate. MCM is a good sweet spot between what he likes and what I like, but we're having a really hard time envisioning it. We have been using ChatGPT, but whatever they generate just seems off... like not the entire vibe we're going for.

I understand the basics such as lots of lamps, so we'd definitely have more here. But I'm unsure how to mix and match textures/woods. A lot of the couches I'm finding are corduroy or velvet, and I'm not sure how that would look. Also, are oriental rugs commonly used in MCM-inspired rooms?

Could we get some advice from MCM pros? We're also less worried about if the furniture is true MCM. We just want it to look as such. Thanks everyone!

(Update with more pictures)
Hi! I'm looking for someone interested in taking over my lease in my cozy apartment on Willy St. I have loved living here and am really bummed I have to leave. You are steps away from many restaurants, next door to a Colectivo, Madison Sourdough, and Lazy Jane's. During the summer, all the music festivals are walking distance away. BB Clarke Beach is a 5 minute walk away.

Here are the details:

-2 bed, 1 bath, 750 sqft (one massive walk-in closet, not joking, it's the size of a small bedroom)

-Rent is 1,835.00 (includes $50/person/month for heat, water and sewer and $35/mo internet). We only pay for electric through Madison Gas Electric. Typical bill is $45. Higher in summer.

-Parking available ($95 for underground heated, $80 for surface/outdoor, lots of on street parking that's free)

-Cat and dog friendly with small fee (dog limit is 30lbs, unless an ESA)

-AC and heat

-Lots of great lighting in all rooms

-Hardwood in living room, tile in bathroom and kitchen, and carpet in bedrooms

Please let me know if you're interested and I can send you the link to apply through the management company's website and we can set up a tour (either in person or virtual).

Raised Ranch Garage Expansion?

My husband and I are looking at house. It is a single car garage and the garage leads into the basement. The empty space to the right of the garage is actually just an office. Is it possible to extend the garage into that basement office and make it a two car garage? Anyone done this before? Also, in this photo, at this angle, it looks like the retaining wall is in the way of the open space on the right. It's not. I'm able to pull a car right up to that empty space.

We don't even own it, but were wondering if it's feasible if we do make an offer.
