Manly, unruly, and mischievous Shous

I really fell in love with the more masculine and unruly type of shous: those that curse, stir up trouble, and get into fights. Like the ones in Can't be left behind and Skin Hunger.

Have you read any other (explicit) novels like that? Please feel free to drop the names! And preferably, I would like to go blind into them ☺️

Is *Requiem* fan-translated?

It would be my first Korean novel, I don't want to get spoiled and can't find that info on the surface: is *Requiem* human-translated, or do we have MTL on NovelUpdates?

Recommendation: Skin Hunger

I am surprised not to find any posts here recommending Skin Hunger -- a beautiful, deeply emotional short read that spans only 10 chapters (+3 extras).

Spicy, thought-provoking, and relatable. Both MCs come from very dysfunctional families and choose polar opposite ways of dealing with the reality. They aren't fated to stay together, and yet never give up conveying their love to each other, directly or indirectly.

For those who adore manly, mischievous and unruly shous as much as I do, this novel is a treasure to behold. And no worries, it's HE~

Translation question

I desperately need to know which SQC's novels currently have the best finished translation (doesn't matter whether locked or not; among all works, not just 188 series). I would like to avoid MTL or AI slop and put such novels aside until I get my Chinese on a good level.

Curious about everyone's DNF ratios

Even though dropping a novel doesn't cause the same feeling of wasted time as, e.g., doom-scrolling does, it's still a pity. The number of novels I DNF is just ridiculous. The pettiest reason perhaps was an overuse of "!", so it read like everyone was super-emotional all the time... I know, spoilt behavior.

I was just wondering, how many novels do you guys actually finish out of the ones you start reading? Am I insanely picky?

*Can't be left behind* rant

I went into Can't be left behind fully blind with zero expectations.

As others have said, this novel has no business being that good. I simply don't understand how one can write such a brutal and problematic love story, from first person POV to boot, so well. I feel inexplicable mild rage re-reading some chapters now, still not understanding how.

It's rough, extremely realistic, sometimes sweet, but ultimately painful underneath. The bond between CP couldn't be any stronger:>!it's a mix of (blood-related) sibling affection, parental care, AND romantic love.!<Both characters are so sick but so desperate for each other.

I just wanted to vent how good Can't be left behind is and to drop a recommendation as a byproduct. My sloppy words will probably never do it justice though, best to read the novel itself.

Good Korean historical novels?

Hi! I would really like to try a Korean BL novel set in ancient times (ideally with cultivation). I'm curious if something good like that exists. I would be thrilled if it also has fine prose.

Impossible recipe: Fluff minus Slice of Life

I am desperately searching for good fluffy novels outside the Slice of Life genre. Massive bonus points if they have a historical setting and some smut. A perfect, seemingly very rare example of such a novel is Mo Flower by Heibai Jian Yao.

Lately I've been wanting to read more wholesome stories, but looks like every recommendation comes with the Slice of Life tag attached :(

Horrible reading slump after Shui Qian Cheng

After Wu Chang Jie by Shui Qian Cheng, every new novel I pick up that is not by this author feels like some kind of a punishment. I literally feel nothing anymore and end up DFN'ing sooner or later.

And before you say I should go read more works of SQC, I am unable to do so just yet because I can't afford getting totally consumed by a novel again right now. I'm saving these cakes for later >!( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) !<

So I wanted something under 100 chapters from another author that is similarly realistic, heart-wrenching and hot, but not to the point that it will make me fail my exams. I tried checking other recommendation posts/comments but apparently I am so bad at guessing what fits this description that I have to resort to posting this personalized rec request.

Each time I go and imagine that damn iPhone factory in that historical setting. The aforementioned conjecture deserves more attention and speculation.

(don't consider this a spoiler, so will not mark it as such)
