LMU vs. UCLA (for those who had the choice)
I'm hoping to hear from students who seriously considered both LMU and UCLA, or were admitted to both. Plan to apply to both this fall so this is a what if scenario, thinking ahead "if" admitted to both (humor me please :). Cost would actually be very similar since we're out of state, so this isn't really a financial question.
On paper, UCLA has the bigger national reputation, but my daughter seems like she might thrive more in LMU's smaller, more personal environment. We're trying to figure out whether choosing LMU over UCLA would mean giving up significant opportunities, or whether fit really matters more in the long run. Plan is to be a Mathematics major or Accounting with hopes of working in the entertainment industry on the financial side.
If you chose LMU over UCLA (or wish you had), what drove your decision? Looking back, are you happy with it? Have you ever felt the UCLA name would have opened doors that LMU didn't?
I'm genuinely asking in good faith and don't mean to imply one school is "better" than the other. I'd just love to hear from people who've actually wrestled with this decision or have helpful info.
