How did the Spanish get their wheat and wine for use in the Holy Eucharist when its impossible to grow grape vine and wheat in the Philippines?

In Catholic theology, only wheat and grape vine should be used for the wine and bread of the Holy Eucharist, no substitutes are allowed.

The question is how did the Spanish during the period of Spanish colonization get their wheat and grape vine when its impossible to grow wheat and grape vine here in the Philippines? Or did they actually try to grow wheat and grape vine here?

During the Spanish colonization of the New World, Spanish missions were able to cultivate grape vine and wheat in California for use in the Holy Eucharist. I don't think its possible here due to the tropical climate.

Importation from China is a possible solution, but I don't think wheat or grape vine there is the same as what the Spanish would use, but did they do it? I don't think its practical to import all of it from the New World due to the distances involved.

Can Philippine national politics today be considered to be the one most driven by political polarization (DDS vs. etc)? Are there similar political feuds or polarization in the past?
