TIL heat cooks eggs
eggs just ended up there on the rails, and turned into omelettes. I didn't realize until I got a rotten pile alert.

Just got my first cargo load for the fullerene. Got a bunch of solid methane. What do you do with all the extra "stuff"? My base is starting to really get cramped with "stuff". Feels like real life...
There's also another shine bug that is tame. I did nothing purposeful here. Here the pufts are "wild ranched" but this JUST started so could not explain why they are tame.
edit
I think I may have had an "open air" grooming station built at one time....hundreds of cycles ago. I have no clue how any of that happened. I guess these critters can survive that long. Life...finds a way (?)
I might be missing something here. I was under the impression in the extra room, the dreckos would continue to grow their coats until they died of starvation. This isn't the case! I get one shearing, then I wait until the game decides to stop accepting drecko eggs here, or I manually cull.
This sound about right? If that's so, then what's the point of the H2 atmo?
What's the "best" one? Seems like soda fountain is generally best overall - good morale, small footprint, most efficient resources. Water cooler is ok. Juicer is atrocious in all respects and the strength Bonus is the most useless. Espresso seems to be OK. But the soda just seems to be better
Any thoughts?
Hello all,
What's the "optimal" level of water/steam mass in the ST intake chamber? I see many different opinions. Couldn't find answers on the wiki. Consensus seems to be aruond 50-200kg but there's doesn't seem to be science around this. I think it's just a matter of how much "buffering mass" you want?
Why aren't my pips planting on this spot? I had 2 locked in there for many cycles. I let them out because I needed them to lay eggs they were getting elderly.
I understand that we remove eggs to keep the producing population maxed out, typically 8 for most critters. In most forms, this means have a breeding chamber full of babies and young critters to replenish recently dead breeders. This inevitably leads to complicated automation with doors, chambers, dropoffs and things which I feel are excessive, or end up requiring occasional action from the player to manually cull the replacements.
Am I missing anything? Personally, I'd rather dip into 7 critters + 1 egg and have that inefficiency than rather have the need to periodically check and cull the overflow population.
EDIT - for some reason I forgot about the dropoff/pickup stations. Thanks everyone
Why isn't this vole pup being groomed?
Hi all,
is there a way to prioritize filling the refineries first, THEN the reservoir? I want to use the reservoir as a backup reserve.

Why isn't my AT cooling? 12C input to 14C output. Looks like it's actually heating the crude oil
So all this taming and work, tinkering and whatnot, vacuuming and babying. I get about ~20k of hot water while spending ~700W for the AT.
Max ST w was around 600w. Max steam temp 163C.
Admittedly the water pool was large in the beginning until I figured out infinite storage. But still. I think I understand why people generally just leave them alone.
Why is the coolant not flowing? Please help :(
EDIT: Sorry I know the segment is not connected. I did that as part of troubleshooting. The problem was packed full loop. I emptied one tile and it went fine. This is a good discussion I will update later <3
I've enclosed 3 natural gas geysers and just stuffing the orange stuff in tanks/room. Is this...prudent? Should I be more mindful about cooling the gas? It all seems super straightforward, just collecting and using the gas with a 1 steel gas pump.
What exactly is required to make the hatches drown? I thought it was two tiles of liquid minimum? Where, here they're able to jump out.
If a dupe is printed with an advanced skill, do they get the benefits of all the preceding skills? e.g. if a dupe has level 3 dig, can they still dig granite, abyssalite, etc?
Why is the conveyor line stalled? This is the bottom
Further up. I cut the right side hoping it would fix things. The lower previously had a conveyor thermo sensor and that worked fine for a while. I removed it hoping it was the problem
middle
End. It's the line on the right side
Original chute was furthest left. Worked for a while then stopped. Why?
I cut the line here and attempted a new chute. Still nothing. I'm at the point where I just want to deconstruct the entire line and rebuild
Is using slime as a P-O2 generator a bad idea? I have 2-5 dupes out of 21 sick constantly. And there are collateral morale hits (low oxygen, long commute, etc). I think I need to be more intentional. Or maybe just ditch the entire "Free O2 bit" and just start doing electrolyzers like normal people.
The only green haze that is NOT pO2/slimelung is the lower left which is chlorine
This game keeps coming up with surprises and its getting really confusing :(
I think it has something to do with the upper checkpoint which I just put in. I disabled both, and somehow Steve just can't go beyond. Why? And how did he get here with that O2 mask?
-> confirmed it was the upper checkpoint. I dismantled it and Steve escaped!
Goodness what am I doing wrong?? Why always glum? Literally this vast pool with all the food they want. The wild ones start with a huge population then VERY slowly become tame because it's only 5% taming per cycle. I heard it was supposed to be 15% with algae?
